    Loved the presentation yesterday from Martin Herbst at JobAdder on 'State of the market'. A few things jumped out in context of the Australian market for Recruitment Agencies. 1. Average rate of new jobs created per recruiter is on the rise again with a bigger uptick expected in Q3 2024. Super important metric, all things considered. 📈 2. Perm vs. Contract placements maintain the near 80:20 split with the % for perm gently ticking upwards. This balance is so important, and I see this as another positive indicator for Agencies. ⚖ 3. Time to fill a role - stats show that recruiters who use their EXISTING candidate database to fill a role can do so 4x (that's right > 400% faster!!!) than when using Ads and hunting externally. 😎 This stat really peaked my interest, and validated what we're building at Scout | Helping Staffing Companies increase revenue using AI.     Mid-way through the quarter. This is, in many ways, the most important quarter for 2024 for most Recruitment Agencies that we work with. Here’s what I’ve learnt so far: #Singapore - Q1 was a waste, Q2 didn’t really look up till the second half. Q3 seems to have more positive news in general. Yes big tech companies have had a number of layoffs but not all sectors are hurting, and some are actually growing. - Agencies working with regional companies are seeing an increase in open roles in Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand. Unit economics are slightly different but still workable given the volume. Given the cost of living here, much of this has been in the works for some time. - Given the variety and volume of CVs available in the market, selective CV selling has gained even more prominence and is yielding results. It is arguably harder to get the hiring manager’s attention given all the noise, but once you do, you can score fast. #Australia - First quarter of the new financial year. Lots of energy and anticipation given the two lack lustre quarters preceding this one. Transformation projects are starting to pick up momentum again which should translate to new jobs. - Number of live open jobs per recruiter is actually trending upwards which is a good sign. - Financial forecasts for most Agencies we’ve spoken with are based on practical attrition rates in the industries served, and marginal growth in new jobs.
