Happy U.S. Coast Guard Day! Today, we honor the incredible men and women who serve in the U.S. Coast Guard, and we're especially proud to highlight two of our very own veterans who have made significant contributions both in uniform and here at SPX Aids to Navigation. Joe Dillier, our Sales Manager for Americas Marine, served 5 years on active duty service in Detroit Michigan and in Washington, DC. In Detroit, he served on a Coast Guard buoy tender and icebreaker that worked to maintain shipping lanes in the Great Lakes. After two years, he transferred to the Coast Guard Headquarters in DC, where he served for three years in the office Boating Safety (CG-BSX). In this role, Joe helped manage the Coast Guard’s recreational boating safety program through education and activation of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Shane Hyde, our Quality Manager for Global AtoN, served 21 years in the Coast Guard. He joined as an E-1 and advanced to E-7, promoted to CWO2, then to O3E. He served just under 8 years at sea on four different cutters including two polar ice breakers, a buoy tender, and commissioned a National Security Cutter.
