Key points included new retirement and the re-employment ages as well as the Tripartite Guidelines for Flexible Work Arrangements. Dr Kressner also introduced the upcoming Workplace Fairness Legislation (WFL)in Singapore which is aimed to enhance protections against employment discrimination. Farewell to 𝗗𝗿 𝗛𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗹: The meeting concluded with a farewell to Dr. Hackl, Co-Chairperson of the committee, who is returning to Germany. The committee extends its heartfelt appreciation for his contributions and wishes him the very best in his future endeavours. 🚢 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗮𝗻𝗷𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗽𝗮𝘀! The Singaporean-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce / AHK Singapur Regional Logistics Committee visited the Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) in Johor, Malaysia - 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝗚𝗖 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲. PTP, established in 1999, is one of the busiest and most modern ports in the region, with an annual capacity of 13 million TEUs. 🌏 SGC delegates toured the port, including the command centre where real-time operations were showcased. A key highlight was visiting the Free Trade Zones, where Equalbase's warehouse supports the Volkswagen Group's logistics hub, serving 21 countries. 📦 A huge thank you to Mark Hildemann and Azrini Reezan Abd. Last week, the Singaporean-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce / AHK Singapur (SGC) had the pleasure of welcoming an delegation from the 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗙𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁’𝘀 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗲. The visit included a discussion with members of the SGC Banking Committe, hosted by DZ BANK AG and a comprehensive economic briefing given by SGC Deputy General Manager Sabine Florian at the SGC premises, and included insights into the business landscape of ASEAN countries given by Hirschle Alexander, Director of the Germany Trade & Invest ASEAN Hub at SGC. The delegation explored Singapore’s role as a 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝘂𝗯, highlighting its innovative yet stable regulatory framework. Key discussions centred around opportunities for 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 💻 and 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 🌱. Ms Selvanathan gave an overview on the 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 of Singapore's transfer pricing regulations and documentation requirements to ensure compliance and fair business transactions. As the operating environment becomes increasingly complex, it is crucial for international companies to stay informed of the 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 and their 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. The webinar allowed our participants to gain first-hand insights into the best strategies for a 𝗿𝗼𝗯𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆, and common pitfalls to look out for under the new regulations. Ms Selvanathan also elaborated on preparing and maintaining 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, keeping in mind the guidelines from the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS). During the Q&A session, Ms Selvanathan highlighted 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 between Singapore and other ASEAN jurisdictions, focusing on the 𝗮𝗿𝗺’𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗲 as a fundamental concept for transfer pricing policies to be aligned with. She also emphasised establishing an 𝘂𝗽-𝘁𝗼-𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 before entering transactions that would ensure compliance with local tax laws and international guidelines.
