About us

Summit Power International Ltd (“SPIL”), headquartered in Singapore, is the largest Independent Power Producer (IPP) in Bangladesh reflecting 17% of Bangladesh’s total private installed capacity and 7% of nation's total installed capacity. In addition, it owns and operates a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) vessel and supplies 500 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) of re-gasified gas to Bangladesh. In 2019, Summit received equity investment that received equity investment from Mitsubishi Corporation. In 2019, JERA Co., Inc. (“JERA”), had acquired a 22% stake in Summit Power International. Recently, it has proposed for the country's third FSRU and the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the proposal in principle mid-June 2023. Currently the near-completion project is the Meghnaghat II, a dual-fuel CCGT GE H Class plant with gross capacity of 590 MW on Gas.

    The ‘Summit- Friendship Solar Village’ project, located in Gaibandha, has received the prestigious Reuters’ Global Energy Transition Awards 2024 under the ‘Projects of Impact’ category in New York, USA on 25th June 2024. Among 500 entries this year from around the globe, this project was nominated for its concrete results in terms of improved energy affordability, and compensation for losses to improve local resilience. This 57.6 kW scalable solar microgrid now benefits 3,000 people from the remote, sedimentary island (called a Char) Kabilpur of Gaibandha district. https://lnkd.in/ef_sbdK7

    "Congratulations to JERA Co., Inc. for using ammonia in their Hekinan Thermal Power Company! What JERA has done is truly amazing towards decarbonization of the whole world to improve the climate." Muhammed Aziz Khan, Founder Chairman of Summit Group of Companies at the Appreciation Reception for Fuel Ammonia Utilization at Hekinan Thermal Power Station. At JERA’s Hekinan Thermal Power Station in Hekinan City of Aichi Prefecture, JERA and IHI begun the world’s first demonstration testing of large-volume fuel ammonia substitution (20% of heating value) at a large-scale commercial coal-fired thermal power plant. This demonstration testing is planned to be carried out through June 2024.

They were greeted by Engr Md Mozammel Hossain , Managing Director of Summit Power Limited and his team.     Summit Group announced the appointment of Faisal Khan as the Managing Director of Summit Corporation, the largest independent power producer (IPP), LNG infrastructure and energy trading company in Bangladesh (effective 1st May 2024). "I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have the privilege of being mentored by my uncle, Aziz Khan, the Founder Chairman of Summit. His guidance, wisdom, and unwavering support have been instrumental in shaping not just my professional journey, but also my personal life. I look forward to continuing to work with the Board of Directors, investors, government, financial institutions and colleagues as we navigate the intricacies of Bangladesh's power and energy sectors.     Muhammed Aziz Khan and Anjuman Aziz Khan congratulated Latif Khan on becoming the Chairman of Summit Power Limited along with Salim Khan, Latif Khan's only son. The leadership of Summit Group, the largest infrastructure conglomerate in Bangladesh, as part of its strategic leadership transition has approved the election of Latif Khan as the Chairman of Summit Power Limited, a publicly listed company (effective 29th April 2024). Previously he served as the Vice-Chairmen since 2009. Latif Khan mentioned, “We will remain under the guidance of our beloved brother and founder Chairman as we are assigned and elected to the Chairmanship. I am personally promise-bound to Aziz Bhai and Summit for my dedicated service.”

    The leadership of Summit Group, the largest infrastructure conglomerate in Bangladesh, as part of its strategic leadership transition has approved the election of Jafer Ummeed Khan as the Chairman of Summit Oil and Shipping Co Limited (effective 17th April 2024) and Latif Khan as the Chairman of Summit Power Limited (SPL), a publicly listed company (effective 29th April 2024). Earlier, Farid Khan had taken the helm of Summit Communications Limited and Summit Towers Limited as the Chairman since 28th December 2021 and 30th May 2022, respectively. Previously they were serving as the Vice-Chairmen of the respective businesses. Muhammed Aziz Khan, the founder Chairman of Summit Group continues to serve as the Chairman of Summit Corporation, the holding company of power generation assets of Summit Group, Summit Power International (in Singapore) and as Director of other companies.
