We are pleased to support AWWA Ltd's Family Empowerment Programme (FEP). The FEP pilot was funded with a Pay-For-Success Model, with support from Tri-Sector Associates (part of the Temasek Trust ecosystem) as the technical advisors, upfront funding from Standard Chartered Singapore, and outcomes funding from Temasek Trust. "Temasek Trust supports outcomes-based philanthropic funding to drive multi-sector coalitions for change. With its rigorous impact measurement and management, the Pay-For-Success model in AWWA's FEP provides for better accountability, and funders have more transparency on their impact per dollar," said Mr. Desmond Kuek, CEO, Temasek Trust. We hope this inspires more collaborative funding and partnerships from institutional funders to support philanthropic causes and social innovation at scale. We were honoured to unveil the results of Singapore’s first randomised controlled trial for unconditional cash transfers today, and with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam in attendance as Guest-of-Honour. Known as the Family Empowerment Programme (FEP), our aim was to empower low-income families with the mental bandwidth and financial flexibility to plan for and pursue their medium- to long-term goals. The results of the FEP show that with the support of regular cash assistance, families were able to experience better mental health, achieve job quality and security, and strengthen familial relationships, giving them more opportunities to progress towards stability and social mobility. It was great hearing from Dr. Ng Kok Hoe, Cindy Tay, Kevin Tan, and Huixia See Toh as they discussed the implications of the FEP results for family services and social policy. We are grateful for the unwavering support of Tri-Sector Associates, Standard Chartered Singapore, Temasek Trust, and other partners who have journeyed with us through the FEP pilot. The Philanthropy Asia Alliance’s Holistic and Inclusive Education Community, led by Tanoto Foundation and supported by Temasek Foundation, is focused on achieving this goal. By enhancing educator skills, improving curricula, leveraging innovative technology, and advocating for early childhood development policies, the Community aims to catalyse a supportive and high-quality education environment for all children. 📚🎓 Hear from Tanoto Foundation on how impactful change is being made and the importance of partnerships in paving the way for progress. 🤝 Learn more about #PAA’s Communities initiative here: https://lnkd.in/gPQBW7vG #InclusiveEducation #EarlyChildhood #QualityEducation #Philanthropy #Impact

Several of our colleagues from Temasek Trust (TT) and our ecosystem entities — TT Foundation Advisors, TT's philanthropy advisory services arm, and Philanthropy Asia Alliance, TT's initiative to foster collaborative philanthropy in Asia through multi-sector partnerships — recently headed to the US for the Asia Philanthropy Circle’s (APC) annual learning journey. It was an enriching experience as participants learnt about successful models of philanthropy, the coalitions and movements they have created, and emerging social investing trends. Across 10 days on the learning journey, the APC members and guests attended 30 meetings with over 120 individuals from around 50 organisations, including foundations, funders, think tanks, non-profits, social investing organisations, family networks, universities, and research institutes. Key takeaways include: 💡 Strategic philanthropy model — Philanthropy can drive systems change through consistent, leveraged, strategic investments. By funding research-backed solutions and supporting early-stage innovation, philanthropy can tackle large-scale problems over the long term. ✅ Trust-based philanthropy model — This approach supports capacity-building and leadership in non-profits; it involves yielding power and letting go of control. Funders must be adaptable, humble, and flexible to accommodate emergent strategies. 🤝 Pooled funds — With this collaborative approach, multiple donors aggregate resources to amplify impact. Donors must be willing to cede some autonomy, to foster community building and pursue shared goals. 💰 Blended finance — The US has a vibrant landscape for social innovation, with many novel approaches that blend philanthropic and commercial capital towards complex issues. Thank you, APC, for inviting us on this learning journey to foster the cross-pollination of best practices, and our fellow participants for all your generous sharing of experiences! The Impact Investing Roundtable 2024 — organised by Temasek and the Centre for Impact Investing and Practices (CIIP), part of the Temasek Trust ecosystem — featured panel discussions on climate investing in emerging markets and on uplifting SMEs for supply chain inclusivity and sustainability. Attendees also had small-group, debate-style roundtable discussions about driving collective action for impact. 🌍✨ Missed the Roundtable? We recap the key highlights in our article: https://lnkd.in/gsCVNY8w CIIP is a non-profit entity established by Temasek Trust to foster impact investing and practices in Asia and beyond.

Last week, over 500 staff volunteers from Temasek, Temasek Trust (TT) and our TT ecosystem entities — Temasek Foundation, Temasek Trust Asset Management, and Stewardship Asia Centre — came together for Temasek’s annual Community Day. Together with community partners, the volunteers participated in activities including: 🎨 Mural wall painting to enhance a HDB void deck space, and distributing care packs in Clementi 🌆 Refreshing the homes of disadvantaged seniors living in one-room flats for a healthy, safe, and clean living environment 🌳 Planting trees at Sun Plaza Park and taking part in edible plant workshops 💡 Joining learning journeys with NorthLight School students, to the Singapore Airlines' SIA Training Centre, SMRT Trains, Riding for the Disabled Association of Singapore, CapitaLand and lyf Funan. We had a meaningful time giving back to the community as one, while also getting to know our colleagues across the ecosystem. This year’s Community Day, which commemorates Temasek’s 50th anniversary, is the largest one to date, and we are glad to have participated in it as Temasek’s philanthropic arm. #Temasek #Temasek50 #T50 #TemasekTrust #TemasekTrustEcosystem

Nearly 40 of us from Temasek Trust, Temasek Foundation, and Temasek Trust Asset Management recently participated in a wellness workshop conducted by The Happiness Initiative. It focused on equipping participants to be resilient and to have a growth mindset when faced with challenges. During the highly interactive workshop, participants learnt to identify negative thinking patterns and apply proven strategies to reframe them into constructive thought patterns. The Happiness Initiative was a co-working partner at Temasek Shophouse in 2020. Their work is centred on translating the science of happiness and well-being into concrete actions people can take. We are glad to work with them on this workshop to equip our team members with the techniques to care for themselves, their loved ones, and the communities they serve. Thank you, Simon Leow, Sherman Ho, and team for a most engaging and enriching session! #TemasekTrust #TemasekFoundation #TTAM #wellbeing
