It takes a village to raise a child. In our journey to fostering inclusive societies, we recognise the collective effort needed to support parents facing challenges in raising their children. Through the 2024 UOB Heartbeat Run, our annual fundraising and volunteering event, we are partnering with Care Corner Singapore Ltd and Child at Street 11 Ltd (as part of President’s Challenge) to support time-challenged parents. Parents will be equipped with the essential resources and skills to better support the mental and emotional developmental needs of their young children, enabling them to overcome obstacles and thrive. In our second year of being involved with the Epworth Community Services, our #UOBHeartbeat volunteers organised two art workshops for children from the Epworth’s HomeSweetHome (HSH) programme during this year’s June school holidays. The HSH programme is a stay-in treatment for children who experienced complex trauma. The 12-to-18 month programme provides early and appropriate intervention for the children to heal and recover, with the goal of helping them become well-adjusted. The children experienced interactive and engaging ‘Acrylic Pour Bear’ and ‘Sneaker Art Jamming’ workshops – and in the process of doing so, helped to develop trusting relationships with adults. We are committed to supporting the social development of the communities in which we operate in through the core areas of Art, Children and Education. Our colleagues are encouraged to utilise three days of paid volunteering leave annually to give back to the community. Ms Yeo Shujun, Vice President, Group Governance, Risk & Compliance, who was one of the volunteers said, "I am so thankful for the opportunity to volunteer for the event. I hope this activity brought joy and warmth to these wonderful kids." #LifeAtUOB #KeepTheGoodGoing

We hosted 50 young adults aged 18 to 25 from across the region at our annual PriviGen workshop, which was designed to equip them with knowledge and skills to journey towards financial success. This year’s workshop kicked off with spotlight topics covering financial literacy and property investment by our in-house and industry experts. Participants gained valuable insights on how to embark on an entrepreneurial journey with confidence through a fireside chat with the CEO of MORNING, Leon Foo, and a visit to Google’s office, where they learnt more about the AI tools available. The two-day workshop rounded off with an interactive and exciting gameplay session, in which all participants applied their newly acquired knowledge, networking and negotiation skills. Finally, their loved ones joined them for a celebratory graduation dinner – marking the successful completion of their learning journey. Is there a way to eliminate 200 tonnes of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere – the equivalent of planting almost 10,000 trees or taking more than 80 cars off the road – in just one year? Our new strategic agreement with DHL Express enables us to achieve just that. Through DHL's new global GoGreen Plus programme, UOB is the first local bank to address and reduce carbon emissions by having our international parcel deliveries transported using sustainable aviation fuel – a green alternative to the conventional petroleum-based jet fuel, produced from renewable sources. This week, our Group Chief Sustainability Officer, Eric Lim, and Head of Group Corporate Real Estate Services, Marcus Lai, met with DHL leaders at the DHL Asia Pacific Innovation Center in Singapore for a signing ceremony to officially commemorate the collaboration.
