  • ⛈️ 🚴♂️ Delivery riders often must work under Singapore’s unpredictable weather, such as heavy rains and storms. This set of infographics in our platform worker series highlights what riders can do to stay safe while riding under these weather conditions.   📥 We urge platform operators to download and share it with your riders: https://lnkd.in/gT3PehkN. We also encourage everyone to share this with any delivery riders you know, to remind them to take ownership of their safety.   Download the Approved Code of Practice for Platform Services for further guidance in ensuring the safety and health of platform workers: https://lnkd.in/geXxDwB8   #WSH #TakeTimetoTakeCare #PlatformWorkers

  • 💡 Leveraging technology is a key enabler in improving WSH standards. Chevron Oronite Pte Ltd is one company who has taken this leap.   1️⃣ 𝗘𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸𝘀 𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀: Deploying aerial drones meant that their workers were no longer exposed to risks associated with working in confined spaces and working at heights for such tasks. Likewise, deploying underwater drones to inspect and clean the sea water intake strainers helped do away with having divers handle such tasks. 2️⃣ 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀: Previously, workers had to manually remove rust from scaffolding platforms using a wire brush, which was tedious and inefficient. Our business partner in collaboration with Chevron Oronite introduced these machines to make the process less strenuous for workers. They empowered and equipped workers to operate them safely by investing in specialised training and implementing enhanced safety measures, such as wearing of safety goggles and maintaining a safe distance from flammable objects. 3️⃣ 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀: Tracking of workers' real time locations helped simplify the enforcement of stricter and highly customised access controls for restricted areas. In emergencies, workers can also send an SOS signal using the tracker. To complement the tracking, they also installed traffic light controls at critical access points to send clear signals to workers on which areas are safe to access, or otherwise, ensuring safe entry in real-time. We encourage all companies to leverage technology to help uplift your WSH standards. These measures are not unique to the chemical industries, and can in fact, be applied across others, such as construction and manufacturing.  Find out more on the different types of technology that can be used for WSH and available support programmes at: https://lnkd.in/gGdeZ8fs.   #WSH #WorkplaceSafety #TakeTimetoTakeCare #WSHTechnology

  • 🚛 Heavy vehicles have wider blind spots. Workers and road users who are oblivious to these areas may unknowingly remain in them, exposing themselves to a greater risk of accidents.   We have produced blind spot stickers to help companies visually mark out these areas on their heavy vehicles to alert their workers and other road users.   📹 Watch this video where representatives from the Container Depot and Logistics Association (Singapore), The Singapore Contractors Association Ltd (SCAL), and Waste Management & Recycling Association of Singapore share how these stickers can be used to prevent accidents.   Download the stickers here: https://lnkd.in/etY7AMVt   #WSH #WorkplaceSafety #VehicularSafety #BlindSpot

  • 📊 Singapore’s workplace safety and health performance last year sees us maintaining our standing among the top-performing countries globally, with a five-year average fatality rate of 1.1 per 100,000 workers. Notably, our workplace major injury rate improved from 16.1 per 100,000 workers in 2023 to 15.9 in 2024.   However, given the increase in our workplace fatality rate from 0.99 per 100,000 workers in 2023 to 1.2 in 2024,the WSH Council encourages all stakeholders to consistently remain vigilant, uphold safety standards, and strive for WSH excellence.    Companies, especially those from the higher risk sectors, must continue to prioritise WSH, through means such as by leveraging WSH technology. At a visit to Chevron Oronite, SMS for Manpower Zaqy Mohamad, joined by Assistant Secretary-General of NTUC Singapore and WSH Council Member Melvin Yong, witnessed firsthand how technology has enabled the company to enhance its WSH and boost productivity.   Read more in SMS Zaqy's post below. Senior Minister of State at Ministry of Defence of Singapore and Ministry of Manpower

Singapore remains among the top-performing countries in our Workplace Safety and Health performance, with a five-year average fatal injury rate of 1.1 per 100,000 workers. In 2024, our major injury rate reached a record low at 15.9 per 100,000 workers. The Ministry of Manpower and MAST agencies will continue to step up efforts in higher risk sectors, including trialling new technologies such as video analytics and use of drones. Today, at Chevron Oronite, alongside NTUC ASG Melvin Yong, we saw how WSH technology is transforming workplace safety — from usage of drones for surveillance and maintenance of the chemical plant, to laser technology for rust removal on scaffolds. These measures enhance safety, boost productivity and can be applied across industries from construction to manufacturing and beyond. Technology can be a game-changer for workplace safety and we encourage more companies to follow suit. Safety is paramount. MOM remains committed to driving WSH excellence and calls on all industries to remain vigilant and committed to keeping workplaces safe.

  • 📃 𝗪𝗦𝗛 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗙𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗳 𝗼𝗳 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰   The Ministry of Manpower has released the National WSH statistics for 2024. Singapore’s performance remained among the top performing countries globally, with a five-year average workplace fatality rate of 1.1 per 100,000 workers. However, with 43 workplace fatalities in 2024, the fatality rate increased to 1.2 per 100,000 workers, from 0.99 in 2023. The WSH Council has prepared a WSH Advisory based on the fatalities occurred in the second half of 2024. Twenty workplace accidents have been grouped across seven incident categories, with recommendations tailored to address each incident type. We urge employers, supervisors and workers to learn from these incidents and adopt the recommendations to prevent future incidents from occurring.   ➡️ Download the full WSH Advisory at: https://lnkd.in/g6g3UVzK   #WSH #WSHAdvisory #WorkplaceSafety
