Empowering and navigating the Malay/Muslim community towards success

About us

Yayasan MENDAKI (Council for the Development of Singapore Malay/Muslim Community) is a pioneer Self-Help Group formed in 1982 dedicated to empower the community through excellence in education, in the context of a multi-racial and multi-religious Singapore. In 2002, MENDAKI streamlined its focus along four key areas of Education, Youth, Family and Employability. MENDAKI's programmes largely target the bottom 30% of the Malay/Muslim population and are therefore highly subsidized. They are mostly preventive and developmental programmes to provide early assistance to the beneficiaries. The programmes are designed to supplement or complement national initiatives. MENDAKI works extensively with partners that share and support its vision and mission. They consist of government agencies, schools, mosques, Malay/Muslim organisations, employers, community centres and MAECs, family & student service centres and many more.

Congrats to our very own Khadijah S. on being part of the NCSS 40-Under-40 Programme! We are proud of your achievement! 🎉

We are proud to have hosted 40 inspiring young leaders for 3 days and 2 nights at this year’s NCSS 40-Under-40 Programme! ✨️ Since its inception in 2019, this initiative has connected 240 visionary individuals across social service, healthcare, and private and public sectors, creating a unique space for collaboration and fresh perspectives on social change. This year’s theme, “Fostering Connections with Next-Generation Leaders,” empowered participants to learn, connect, and reflect alongside leaders such as Minister Masagos Zulkifli, Speaker Seah Kian Peng, Mr Ravi Menon, NCSS President Ms Anita Fam, Board Members Ms Yap Su-Yin, Mr Wan Chee Foong, and many other distinguished leaders from the private sector. A panel of inspiring NCSS 40-Under-40 alumni joined us and shared their journeys and insights. The programme closed with a heartfelt message of gratitude. Participants expressed gratitude for the connections made, friendships formed, and shared mission to build a more caring and inclusive society. 💙 Together, we look forward to creating a brighter future for all. After all, #ItTakesATribe to make lives count! #NCSS #40Under40 #SocialServiceTribe #SocialServiceLeaders #SocialServiceSG

The Malay/Muslim Community of Singapore recently organised an Appreciation Dinner for Mr Lee Hsien Loong for having served the nation with honour and distinction as our Prime Minister from 2004 to 2024. Over 600 guests from the Malay/Muslim community – including serving and retired Members of Parliament, and leaders from community, religious and youth groups – attended the Appreciation Dinner on Friday, 20 September 2024 held at Max Atria, Singapore EXPO. Mr Lee was presented with a sculpture as our community’s appreciation gift. The sculpture entitled “In Conversation” was crafted by our master potter, Dr Iskandar Jalil. It depicts the sincere connections between the community and Mr Lee over the years. Let’s continue to progress towards a better and brighter future for all!
