CastQC aims to produce a novel aluminium alloy that directly contributes to CO2 reductions in the manufacturing process.

About us

During a 2 year project funded by EIT Raw Materials, Iskra ISD with partners aims to optimise casting of the new Aluminium alloy with metastable quasicrystal (QC) phase for a wide range of applications. This will be achieved with optimisation of alloys chemical composition, high pressure die casting parameters and microstructure to reduce its weight (which will also reduce costs of production and environmental footprint) without reducing quality (mechanical properties).

    🔔 The 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐐𝐂 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 is to bring to market a new category of safer and more sustainable aluminum alloy, specifically designed to make final products with high-pressure die casting (HPDC). QC alloy will have well-defined parameters 📈 and conditions to ensure consistent and repeatable material properties. All partners of the project are working hard to achieve this using their expertise and collaborating closely throughout the development process By combining 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡, 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠, the CastQC project aims to set a new standard in the industry for high-performance aluminum alloys, ultimately contributing to safer and more environmentally friendly manufacturing practices. 🌎 🌼

    Slovenian #automotive event - report 👇 SRIP ACS+ organised a mission GREMO (short for green #mobility), where all major companies showcased their latest innovations and rewarded : ➡️ MAHLE - SCT electric motor with oil cooling ➡️ Hidria - Electric heated catalyst for exhaust system ➡️ TPV AUTOMOTIVE - Safety chassis element for BMW cars ➡️ Domel - EC motor for water pump ➡️ Kolektor - Multi-Function Sensor for Vehicle Dynamics Control and many others... The Prime Minister of #Slovenia, dr. Robert Golob also attended the strategic meeting to go through activities of ACS (slovenian automotive suppliers) in the field of innovative development of products and solutions.     𝐀𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞 - 8th casting! 🎉 We just completed the 8th 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡-𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐐𝐂 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐲 and are excited to see 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐚𝐥 this time. 🔎 🔬 👉 With each casting, 𝐰𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐠𝐨𝐚𝐥: achieving steel-like properties in an aluminum alloy that will enable up to a 30% 𝐰𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 compared to existing aluminum alloys (DIN226). 🚗🌐 ✨ This is not just great news for the automotive industry but also for car owners, as a 100 kg weight reduction can lead to a 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐟𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 ⛽ by 0.3 to 0.5 L/100 km. 🚘 Furthermore, we all stand to benefit from it because of its environmental 🌍 impact, as 20% 𝐟𝐞𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐎2 𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 in the production of the alloy to achieve 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲.
