With over 60 GW of new solar panels installed in the EU in 2024 (roughly enough to power one Italy or twenty-five Slovenias), renewable energy should be a largely solved problem and electricity mostly free - so why is it not?   🔋 Storage.    Of these 60 GW, a large part were thousands of businesses, covering their production halls (free surface) with solar panels. Yet, when the energy bill comes, it is largely dictated by the power drawn from the grid, despite hundreds of kW of solar.
