We're ready to include #QA in the project! Are you? In our latest blog, our QA lead Urša Dana Saksida explains why this is not just a simple one-word answer and what to consider when opting for it. Is the project new or old? Which platforms do you need to test? What's the user base like? What's the scope of QA inclusion? And why does all of this matter? You can find all of those answers (with the usual drizzle of the X-Files references and Urša's unique humour) in the link in the comments 😉

A novel about IT and DevOps? A novel? Really? 🤨 We had to check it out. So, next up at our #bookclub was The Phoenix project by Gene Kim, George Spafford, and Kevin Behr. The verdict? 🧐 We were impressed. The novel form makes it a lighter read at first glance, but the storyline successfully presents all the usual struggles of IT projects and offers solutions: 🐐 Conflicts of interests between departments and how to set priorities. 🐐 Relying on individuals too much and how to share knowledge with the whole team. 🐐 Scope creep and how to focus on key features first. 🐐 Overlapping deliveries, unforeseen dependencies, and how to set up an efficient process. 🐐 Compliance and how cooperation between security and development should look like. While we did find some characters a little over the top (we're looking at you, Eric), we would still highly recommend the book to anyone in #tech #projectmanagement, #devops or #softwareengineering.

How do you get the best out of your product #development #team? In our latest newsletter, we've been talking to Amedea Derenda, Marko Alpner, Katarina Mlakar, and Urša Dana Saksida about how they see their role in developing #digitalproducts. Here's a quick overview of what they said helps them give their best to each product: 🐐 Explain the bigger picture, so they can make the most informed decisions and create a product that the customers will want to use and spend money on. 🐐 Account for different angles to diminish all the common risks of digital product development - from buggy #software to faulty product-market fit or resource overspending. 🐐 Let them know they’re making an impact, so they get a sense of a positive contribution to people's lives. What makes you give it your best?

💥💥💥🤬 "What the hell is going on?" "I was trying to pack my bags without waking you peeps up... Then, I bumped into the chair, knocked over the water bottle, stepped on a Lego, couldn't find my passport, kicked Fluffy's food bowl, tripped over my suitcases, and dropped my phone into the toilet." "Well, maybe you should just turn the light on next time." 🐐🐐🐐 Mushroom management is an anti-pattern in which the #engineers are kept away from the end users and left in the dark about their feedback. Other team members (business owners, managers, architects ...) act as intermediaries and the only source of information for them. This is a bad idea because it stops the engineers from understanding the big picture, the changes of requirements, and the end users' needs. 🐐🐐🐐 This is post no. 22 from our Dev-finitions series. The series aims to explain quirky common expressions in #softwaredevelopment. #softwareengineering #coding #devfinitions

As far as we know, he's not getting married (yet), but last month Nejc Bauer proved himself to be marriage material. He emptied the whole dishwasher and put away all of the dishes. By himself! Without being asked to do it! Amazing, right? 🤯 Joking aside, we appreciate all the little things individuals do to contribute to a pleasant working environment. Thank you, Nejc. 🐐🐐🐐 Employee of the Month is not an official Kaldi title. You can get it for doing your job or something completely irrelevant to it.

"OMG, you have such amazing photos!" says pretty much anyone who's ever seen our website or any of our social media. The culprit behind them is Marko Alpner, who is not just our project manager but also one of the best concert photographers in Slovenia. Now he apparently does guest lectures to university students about it as well. 👏👏👏 Marko 💪🏻
Guest lecturer at university? ✅ Thank you Jure Ahtik for the invite, hospitality and the photo. It was a challenge and a pleasure!

How do you make a rowing competition non-competitive? Easy. You form three teams, and then you let each of them invent their own rules. Win-win-win 😄 #teambuilding #pizza #winners

Look mom, our goat is on TV! We love to support the Slovenian tech community. So when Oto Brglez asked, if we could lend our offices for the next episode of Ogrodje, it wasn't even a question. Check it out 👇
