📣 Language requirements for immigration to Slovenia – Legislative change from May 1st 2024! ❓ Do I need to speak Slovenian? Do I need to learn Slovenian? and How much Slovenian do I need to know? - are some of the first serious questions coming from Slovenian residence permit applicants and inquirers. 🗓 From November 1st 2024, two language requirements are set to be enacted: a A2-level requirement for permanent residence applicants and a "survival level" requirement for family member permit extension applicants. This unfortunately phrased requirement comes from the latest change to the Slovenian Foreigners Act. The name does however imply that the language requirement should be very basic. The law indeed defines the survival level of Slovenian as the language skill required for basic communication in the Slovene language, limited to simple, predictable, everyday situations in which expression is routine and repetitive. ❗ Even though the language skills are not required until November this year - From May 1st 2024, the issuance of a family member permit extension will be conditioned with an enrolment in a suitable language course or study program. 📖 Check out our take on the best course of action for various residence permit applicants in our latest article. #Immigration #Slovenia #language #residence https://lnkd.in/dDT5SS4U
