Berg Schola
Civic and Social Organizations
Berg Schola presents and protects the tangible and intangible heritage of our mining history and culture.
About us
The non-profit organization Berg Schola was founded on June 22, 2019, on the 284th anniversary of the founding of the original Banská Štiavnica school, the Berg Schola Academy – the oldest technical school in the world. We are not miners, we do not mine metals, minerals, or coal. However, we benefit from the rich history of mining, from technical discoveries, culture and traditions that deserve to be preserved. We protect the tangible and intangible heritage of Slovakia's montane history and strive for its "rediscovery" through an attractive and sustainable presentation. Because only such a society can understand its present and what it can be really proud of, which knows its roots. Because in order to understand our present, we have to know our roots, or what we can be really proud of as a society.
