Meet the co-founders and driving forces behind EPD Square,Prof. Silvia Vilcekova and Samuel Sura, two leaders passionately committed to sustainability and innovation in the construction industry. 🌱 Prof. Silvia Vilcekova With over two decades of experience in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Silvia has made significant contributions to the field. She has created Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for various product types and provided third-party verification services for an even larger range of products for multiple programme operators. Silvia actively participates in numerous committees dedicated to shaping LCA and EPD standards and methodologies. Currently, Silvia serves as the Director at the Institute of Sustainable and Circular Construction at the Technical University of Kosice. She also holds the position of chairman of the Technical Committee TK112 for Sustainable Construction. 🌍 Samuel Sura A committed entrepreneur in the sustainability sector, Samuel has dedicated his professional journey to advancing eco-friendly initiatives. He founded SALVIS, a consultancy firm specializing in carbon-neutral buildings, where he serves as the founder and manager. With deep expertise in LEED and BREEAM certifications and simulations, Samuel is well-versed in sustainable construction practices. Collaborating with Silvia, he actively engages in various EPD-related projects. 🔍 Types of EPD with EPD Square 📊 1. Specific EPD The EPD for a specific product is the primary option. In specific EPDs, there is no variation in the declared product. 2. Average EPD Average EPDs cover several manufacturing plants or similar products. The reported average result for GWP-total should not differ by more than ±10% compared to the GWP-total results for any of the covered products. 3. Sectoral EPD Industry associations or groups of companies may prepare sectoral EPDs, declaring the average product of several companies in a defined sector and geographical area. Have any questions?
