neocid Angriffige Produktion, präzis gespielte Songs. Eine ausgewogene Mischung zwischen beissendem Tremolo/Doublebass, rockigen und epischen Teilen.

Sinan Atamer Skalmold has always been one of my favourite bands. With every album they seem to be evolving and getting more complex, not necessarily better, as I adore their first and second album, but more mature and textured. Sorgir is certainly fantastic, and every song holds up. This is not a slow folk album, but a bombastic storytelling filled with rage, sorrow and adventure. I don't speak a word of Icelandic but I feel like I am getting the story. 5/5 well done. Favorite track: Móri.

about

The breathless opener "Ljosid" promises a wild ride, and epic choirs, Björgvin Sigurðsson`s raw vocals and tough riffing immediately provide for the right Viking Metal spirit. Sorgir, the sixth album by the Icelanders, speaks volumes about the maturity of a band that effortlessly balances between respect for the traditions of Viking Metal and an absolutely unique take on the genre. Soaring melodies, folk elements and harsh outbursts remind of the chilly beauty of Skálmöld`s home country – Iceland, the eternal and awe-inspiring source of inspiration for neckbreakers such as "Gangari" and the gripping epic "Mara."
