    Highlight of the day

    India now has a total of 22 medals, with shooting events accounting for half of them. Sift Kaur Samra was the highlight of the day, winning gold in the individual with a world record and team silver in the team 50m rifle 3P event. The women’s team also won gold in the 25m pistol event. Today, India won seven medals in shooting.

    SILVER FOR ANANT IN MEN’S SHOTGUN SKEET

    SILVER MEDAL ALERT! Anant Jeet Singh Naruka won a silver medal, giving India its 11th medal in shooting and 22nd overall meal.

    Naruka finished his last round with 10/10 to finish his event with an impressive 56/60 although it was not enough for gold against Kuwait’s Abdullah Alrashidi who equalled the world record with a perfect 60/60 to finish first.

    Sift Kaur Samra and Ashi Chouksey secured gold and bronze respectively in the women’s 50m rifle 3-position individual event at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China on Wednesday.

    Zhang Qiongyue of China won the silver medal ahead of Chouksey after the Indian shot an 8.9 in her final shot to drop down below the Chinese shooter.

    Samra won gold with a world record score of 469.6, ahead of Zhang, who scored 462.3. Chouksey finished third with a score of 451.9.

    MEDAL ALERT! Indian team wins silver medal in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions after securing second place with 1766 points in the qualification.

    Sift Kaur Samra and Ashi Chouksey qualified for the finals as well by finishing second and sixth respectively while Manini Kaushik bowed out in the individual event by finishing 18th.

    This was India’s 15th medal and the 5th silver at the Games this season. The shooting team won their 6th medal of the event and inching closer to better the 9-medal mark of 2018.
