Shooting HIGHLIGHTS Asian Games 2023: Sift Kaur wins gold with WR, India wins 25m women’s pistol team gold - Hangzhou 2022 updates

India now has a total of 22 medals, with shooting events accounting for half of them. Sift Kaur Samra was the highlight of the day, winning gold in the individual with a world record and team silver in the team 50m rifle 3P event. The women’s team also won gold in the 25m pistol event. Today, India won seven medals in shooting.

SILVER MEDAL ALERT! Anant Jeet Singh Naruka won a silver medal, giving India its 11th medal in shooting and 22nd overall meal.

Naruka finished his last round with 10/10 to finish his event with an impressive 56/60 although it was not enough for gold against Kuwait’s Abdullah Alrashidi who equalled the world record with a perfect 60/60 to finish first.

Asian Games 2023: Anant Jeet Singh wins silver in men’s shotgun skeet event

India’s Anant Jeet Singh won silver in men’s shotgun skeet event at the Asian Games 2023 on Wednesday.

Anant Jeet misses his first shot of the event. The boy, who looked way too good for others started to falter as we came close to the business end of the event. Anant misses one more but he compensates with finishing with 4 consecutive shots and confirms at least a silver for himself and India.

Second Chinese bows out of the event and with this Anant, who still finds himself on top, confirms a medal for India.

The battle is between India’s Anant Jeet Singh Naruka and Kuwait’s Abdullah Alrashidi who both are at 36/36 at the moment.

We have seen Korea’s Yuan Meng Lee getting eliminated after 30 shots and it’s a four-man game now.

Jiangchi Luu has been eliminated after he could only manage 18 off 20 with his missed shot being the latest one.

Asian Games 2023: Esha Singh bags silver in 25m pistol women’s final, Manu Bhaker finishes fifth

Indian shooter Esha Singh clinched silver in the 25m pistol women’s final at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China on Wednesday.

This is India’s 10th medal in shooting, bettering the 2018 edition of nine medals in total.

India’s Esha Singh wins silver in the 25m women’s pistol event after shooting only the last two targets. China’s Liu wins gold shooting 38 targets breaking Rahi Sarnobat’s 34 point Asian Games record.

Esha started with 27 points with Yang starting at 26. Indian shooter scores five on five and is currently on second place as she trails behind two shots against China’s Liu.

Esha Singh secures India’s 10th medal in shooting as she hits four on five and is on 27 points at the moment.

Manu Bhaker misses out on podium finishing 5th. Esha Singh, on the other hand is still on medal contention equalising with China’s Feng and Korea’s Yang with 23 points.

Looks like there is a discrepancy on the targets shot as the match is paused with the match officials checking the targets again after serie 6.

Liu Rui of China currently leads with 24 shots on target, followed by Yang Jiin of South Korea and Feng Sixuan of China with 22 and 20 shots on target.

Iran’s Haniyeh leaves as both Indians are with 18 shots on target.

Manu equalises with Esha 15 shots on target each and are in the fourth place.

Esha is currently on third place with 14 points, Manu is sixth with 10 points.

Esha has 10 on target, Manu has nine after the third series. Esha hit all her targets in this serie.

25m Pistol Women’s Final: Manu Bhaker and Esha Singh get only two shots on target out of the five in the first serie.

India’s Rahi Sarnobat holds the 25m Pistol Women’s Asian and Games Record with a score of 39 and 34 points, respectively.

BRONZE MEDAL ALERT! The trio of Angad Vir Singh Bajwa, Gurjoat Siingh Khangura, and Anant Jeet Singh Naruka won the men’s shotgun skeet team bronze with a score of 355.

Indian women’s team crashed out of the shotgun skeet event by finishing in the fourth position behind Kazakhstan, China and Thailand.

GOLD MEDAL ALERT! Sift Kaur Samra wins gold won individual gold.

Ashi Chouksey also secured bronze in the women’s 50m rifle 3-position individual event.

Zhang Qiongyue of China won the silver medal ahead of Chouksey after the Indian shot an 8.9 in her final shot to drop down below the Chinese shooter.

Samra won gold with a world record score of 469.6, ahead of Zhang, who scored 462.3. Chouksey finished third with a score of 451.9.

Shooters are changing their position from kneeling to prone and they have seven minutes for the rearrangement.

Sift Kaur Samra leads after the kneeling round. She shot 154.6 to finish on 1st. Ashi Chouksey meanwhile is on the 6th with 152.5.

Sift Kaur Samra stands in third place with 102.1 points after 10 shots of the first kneeling series. 5 more shots to go in this round.

INDIA WINS 4TH GOLD OF THE ASIAN GAMES 2023!

The trio of Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh and Rhythm Sangwan won the gold medal in the women’s 25m pistol team event by finishing on top of the qualification. They denied China a gold in the event!

Manu Bhaker finishes with 98 in the last rapid-fire series to finish on top of qualification.

Manu Bhaker is unstoppable at the moment. He shoots nine 10s and 1 nine to get another total of 99. She continues to stay on top as India nears its fourth gold.

Meanwhile, Manu Bhaker starts with a brilliant 99/100 in her first rapid series to reign supreme in the individual qualifications.

India maintains its lead of 2 over China for the gold medal position in the team event.

MEDAL ALERT! Indian team wins silver medal in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions after securing second place with 1766 points in the qualification.

Sift Kaur Samra and Ashi Chouksey qualified for the finals as well by finishing second and sixth respectively while Manini Kaushik bowed out in the individual event by finishing 18th.

This was India’s 15th medal and the 5th silver at the Games this season. The shooting team won their 6th medal of the event and inching closer to better the 9-medal mark of 2018.

What a comeback from Sift Kaur Samra as she scored 594 to finish on joint-top with points but second with fewer inner 10s if compared to China’s Siyu Xia.

The Indian team is primed to win the 25m women’s pistol team event after Esha and Rhythm shoot brilliantly.

Bhaker of India and China’s Sixuan Feng are yet to shoot their rapid series.

India enjoys a four-point lead over rival China with three series of rapid shots to go.

Ashi Chouksey made a comeback to shoot 99 and 100 in two prone series to finish with a total of 394 after kneeling and prone positions combined.

Esha Singh is up for the challenge under pressure as she hits seven back-to-back 10s to make it 70/70 while the other Indian, Rhythm scored 68 off the first 7 shots.

The Indians in action in the first phase of Women’s 25m rapid fire pistol qualification Rhythm and Esha scored 98 in the first series. In contrast, Iran’s Haniyeh Rostamiyan and Korea’s Jiin Yang shot 100/100.

Rhythm and Esha are off to a great start as both shooters hit 69/70 after the first seven rapid pistol shots.

Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh and Rhythm Sangwan shot tremendously well to put India in first place after the precision pistol round. Bhaker, with 294 points finished on top of individual ranking.

The trio of Parinaaz Dhaliwal, Darshna Rathore and Ganemat Sekhon placed at fourth place after China, Kazakhstan and Thailand after three rounds of shooting (skeet-75).
