Women’s T20 World Cup 2024: India beats West Indies by 20 runs in warm-up match; Australia, New Zealand register wins

A flamboyant fifty from Jemimah Rodrigues and a clinical bowling performance helped India beat West Indies by 20 runs in an ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 warm-up game in Dubai on Sunday.

Chinelle Henry and Mandy Mangru could only manage 9 off the last over as India beat West Indies by 20 runs. 

Henry struck Renuka Yadav for a six followed by a four but 31 needed off the last over now. 

Renuka bowls a tight over, gave just five off her over as West Indies need 45 off 12 to win now. 

Chinelle Henry has kept West Indies in the hunt with her knock. 50 needed off the last 3 overs. 

Asha Sobhana and Deepti Sharma accounted for three wickets in the last two overs. The game looks pretty much in India’s favour with the flurry of wickets. 

28 in last four overs, the required rate is 9 runs per over now. 

Chinelle Henry and Shemaine Campbelle have soaked in the pressure from the Indian attack as the pair took West Indies near 50. WI needs 100 off 72 to win. 

Make it three wickets for India. Pooja Vastrakar joins the part now. She removes Chedean Nation for 4. West Indies reeling at 17/3 at the moment. 

Pooja Vastrakar and Renuka Thakur gave India a perfect start, each accounting for a wicket as dangerous Hayley Matthews departs for a none. 

28 came off the last 17 deliveries as India somehow managed to post a respectable total of 141/8 courtesy of a gritty half-century by Jemimah Rodrigues. 

Jemimah Rodrigues’ cameo comes to an end after she was run out by the duo of Karishma Ramharack and Mandy Mangru.

The dazzling opening duo has kickstarted India’s innings. India is 16 for no loss in two overs. Mandhana has struck two consecutive boundaries off Zaida James in the second over.
