The European Committee for Standardization is one of three European Standardization Organizations (together with CENELEC and ETSI) that have been officially recognized by the European Union and by the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) as being responsible for developing and defining voluntary standards at European level.

Ophthalmic optics |
Scope
Standardization of products, test methods and instruments used in the field of ophthalmic optics. Industrial eye-protection is excluded. Specific requirements for ophthalmic implants such as intraocular lenses are included in the scope of CEN/TC 170, whereas the general requirements are within the scope of CEN/TC 285.
