Title Timber structures - Prefabricated wall, floor and roof elements - Structural (load-bearing) elements with adhesively bonded sheeting made of wood-based panels on one or both faces (EN 14732-2)
Work Item Number 00124201
Abstract/Scope This European Standard sets out provisions regarding the performance and characteristics of structural (load-bearing) factory prefabricated wall, floor and roof elements consisting of framing members of structural timber, structural finger jointed timber, glued solid timber, glued laminated timber, laminated veneer lumber (LVL), and sheeting made of wood-based panels bonded adhesively on one or both faces, for use in service class 1 or 2 in accordance with EN 1995-1-1. At least one of the sheeting contributes to the load-bearing capacity of the element. At least one sheeting may contribute to the structural capacity of an element. The cavities of the prefabricated elements may be filled entirely or partially with insulating materials. The exterior faces of the elements may also be covered with insulation material. The elements may contain water vapour control layers. The elements may contain non-structural gypsum boards. This European Standard covers prefabricated wall, floor and roof elements with adhesively manufactured bonds using an adhesive of Type I according to EN 301 with performance characteristics deemed to satisfy the characteristics of the prefabricated element in service class 1 and 2. This European Standard specifies characteristics of load bearing and non-load bearing components for the prefabricated elements. This European Standard applies to prefabricated elements that may have openings, e. g. for windows, doors etc. It does not apply to the characteristics of incorporated doors or windows. The elements may be used in seismic areas with adequate design and materials. This European standard covers - elements with a sheeting thickness of maximum 60 mm - wall elements with a maximum length/height or height/length of 16,5 m x 4,0 m and of unrestricted thickness - floor and roof elements with a maximum length of 12,5 m, a maximum width of 4,0 m and a maximum thickness, relevant for composite action, of 0,5 m. This European Standard does not cover curved elements This European Standard does not cover elements intended for use in fatigue actions. This European Standard does not cover elements with framing members with holes except for round holes at mid-depth with a diameter  1/10 of the framing member depth. This European Standard does not cover components and prefabricated elements treated with fire retardants. This European Standard can also be used to specify the performance and characteristics of non-load bearing elements. This European Standard also lays down procedures for Assessment and Verification of Constancy of Performance Characteristics (AVPC) and specifies marking and labelling.
