It's absolutely beautiful with a gorgeous open-world and lots of varied quests within the different villages.
Includes your usual open-world busy-work too, but it's all just lots of fun to me.
Jet-pack traversal is fun. Combat is decent too.

I was a huge fan of the original Outcast, got all the (un)official remakes and couldn't be happier when this finally released. Only to be disappointed by the most generic, boring and unengaging game i've played in a very long time. The jetpack was fun, but that's the only redeeming quality about this game.
The graphics are lacking, the gameplay is repetitive, the storyline is about as basic as can be, but the worst part is...it has absolutely nothing, and I do mean nothing to do with the original outcast. It's just a lame attempt to an "it's not an Avatar game with the exact same story *wink wink*" with a bunch of woke stuff sprinked in that completely contradics everything that happened in the first game.

*Slight spoilers ahead*

There are no puzzles, no quest or choices or anything else that has any effect at all on the storyline or the gameplay in any way, no engaging conversations or even challenging enemies. The Talans are just NPC pillars that have no lives, do nothing but stand still and waiting for you to talk to them, they dont even care or react if you empy thousands of rounds of ammunition right next to their face. Speaking of munition, one of the best parts of the orignal game was upgrading your diverse weapons by doing hard quest and finding artifacts to complete challenging trials. Now it's just 2 generic guns which you upgrade in a menu whenever you want like the immortal and unstuppable supersoldier from the heavens you're supposed to be.
Finally there's the storyline. I could spell out every single "plottwist" in crayons after playing for about 5minutes, the amount of times I was like: "which 5 year old wrote this script" was unbelievable. Even something as simple as, I don't know, taking away a comlink,supercomputer and infinite jetpack/shield when putting someone in prison failed to cross their minds.

The only parts relevant to the original game are some wannabe funny remarks and some easter eggs.
It's like they took the original game, removed everything remotely fun and innovative about it and puked out something so generic even COD or FIFA would be ashamed of it.
If you liked Outcast, please don't bother with this.

Nice looking game, and that's the best I can say about it. Everything else is extremely mediocre.

The movement is fun, but it takes all game to get it upgraded so you barely spend any time with full movement. And probably 50% of the 'to-do list" in this game is parkour challenges, though you can do almost all of them with just the basic jump because there is so little risk of failure.

The 2 guns have a fun mod system that lets you really change their play style. But the combat is really boring. The AI doesn't do much interesting, and the boss fights seemed fairly low effort. I almost never used any of the special abilities you have at your disposal because the combat was just too simple and I never needed it.

It's basically Anthem's combat/movement in the Avatar universe, padded with an Ubisoft-style open world.

Lots of performance issues. Crashed probably 10 times. Lots of framerate drops when moving quickly across land or just in towns, but very inconsistently. Characters T-posing. Prompts staying on screen until restart. Getting locked in a menu and having to alt+f4, like 4 times.

Even at half off I feel a little cheated from this purchase. I did at least get 25 hours of entertainment. Just didn't leave me feeling satisfied.
