Holy Man
I've read all the posts on this. Some people have the same issue I have but nobody has really given advice.

My issue is that it doesn't matter how isolated my villager seems to be, as soon as I start to convert him, everybody turns up and kills the priest. I've even tried it on easy but makes no difference.

I did manage to get one villager once, but that 's not enough to do anything with, even yellow managed to build a barracks before me, and I've got 5 minutes max before red invade, even if I try to set up shop by yellow.

I've played this game on the original disc all the way through, many times, and this is not what it used to be like (in the old days :D)

Anyone know of a good spot to try to convert safely?

Hey Turtleswatter, long time no see. What I pretty much realized when it comes to converting units, is it's all RNG for you. Sometimes it's a fast success, other times it takes forever, and in this particular Campaign, everyone gets aggressive and tries to kill your Priest.

I tried converting Red, absolutely a bad idea. Converting Yellow is the only way to go, so always head over there at the start. Now, once you have Villagers in sight, save your game. Then attempt to convert. If it's taking too long, reload. After every successful conversion, save. I promise you, each time you had to reload, the converting is different every time.

After converting a few Villagers, I built a Town Center and carried on from there continuing to convert the rest of Yellow as I built up my economy. Don't forget to continue to save your game after each successful conversion. Then investing in a Watch Tower or 2 at the shallows to ward off Red, because by this time Red is fixing to begin their relentless and annoying assault.

Hi there :) Thank you. I didn't take the RNG into account and really should save my game. I'm ok once I get a foothold.

Yellow Ai is easier to defeat, and its slower.
Red Ai is harder to defeat, and its more aggressive.

Man, I swear this mission is so dang hard to do. God Knows how many times I have reloaded it. XD

i always go for the red, i start converting the 4 axemen, then building houses and everything around the left forest exactly on the red military academy and put the priest in it that no enemys can hit the priest so u can convert humans, its pretty easy and fun :D i let the humans cut the forest to build more houses that i use like walls and get bigger. but i always stay isolated and go as fast i can for farms and chariots. I build all the farms inside my wall of houses. BUT in this map i would save after every convert when starting, because everything depends on the mod of your priest, if he needs to long to convert you may have to reload :P ITS one of my Favorite maps :D its so fun

I am experiencing this too. I find it very strange that on Hardest mode the yellow villagers will flee the priest when converting, but playing on Easy all the yellow villagers will attack the priest. Makes no sense - Hardest is Easy and Easy is Hardest.
I will try the saving often method.

Use trees to slow down the villagers.
