floating xp values

when i played this game in years past i remember upon unit kill a little xp number would "float" up showing how much shipment xp you got. i cannot seem to locate it under settings

There is no setting, it is always enabled.
Sometimes it may bug out and require a game restart to start showing up again.
Also note that a few specific units don't award any XP, notably Minutemen.
