It will likely come out on steam when sales in EGS drop near zero. I don't have EGS and will not be getting it.

It's probably not coming to Steam any time soon, it wasn't given an exclusivity deal, Epic Games straight up published it, so unless they buy the publishing rights for 2 back (not gonna happen for a while) it's not coming to Steam.

To be honest, I was firmly in the crowd of people saying 'It will never come to Steam because Epic funded the project', but now I think it will actually come, and perhaps soon too!
Alan Wake 2 has not recouped it's development costs yet, despite being out for about 10 months now, and surely a Steam release will tip the game into profitability land very quickly.

Also, Epic Games have today acknowledged that many of their exclusivity arrangements 'were not good investments', and free games have been the biggest draw to the Epic Games Store ecosystem. (Free game claimers are apparently more likely to buy other games in that game's series on the Epic Games Store, according to Epic.)

I feel that Epic could be hinting that they may be considering relaxing their stance on exclusivity. After all, we're seeing less and less Epic exclusives in recent months, and UbiSoft for example, are increasingly investing more into their Steam presence (some of their games have just had Steam features added such as achievements).
Epic are increasingly starting to see Fortnite as a 'platform' in itself too, so I would imagine much of their focus would be geared towards that going forward, along with their mobile Epic Games Store ventures.

Alan Wake 2 would certainly be a day one purchase for me should it ever make the jump to Steam, and I'm getting increasingly hopeful that it will, particularly with the way Alan Wake 2 has performed, and the way Epic seems to be changing the way it approaches exclusivity.
Either way, there's plenty to keep me occupied on here until Alan Wake 2 gets here.

If they do, it would indicate they(Tim) was wrong. Not sure if his ego would let him since the platform is still selling at a lost 5 years later.

Requires an EGS account and that's how AW2 will make it to steam.
That’s an online component you don’t need an egs launcher to play it. Alan wake 2 doesn’t have online and was published by epic games.

EPIC is the publisher and they see what sony is doing with their PC games and they WILL copy it. No matter what Timmy will come to steam when he needs to the money. AW2 wil not be on steam any sooner.
