It's nothing like that one AVENGERS game (as I originally thought) but more like a JEDI: FALLEN ORDER / SURVIVOR style game set in the MARVEL universe.

I honestly forgot this game even existed until I saw it in my friend's library when I keyword searched for "MARVEL" and it is absolutely one of the coolest things I've ever played. I vaguely remember this game being announced a while ago but I never saw any gameplay or anyone talk about this game AT ALL and I don't get why not. The needle-drops give me chills. The facial animations are some of the most lifelike and endearingly expressive I've ever seen. The textures are so tangibly realistic I feel like I can mentally reach through the screen and touch the surfaces of these environments; from the cold slick spaceship interiors to the wet and rubbery vines that drape across the first planet you visit. Everything is done so unbelievably well.

I am writing this review very early into the game, but I already I feel an attachment to the rest of the team members and I genuinely like every one of them. Even though they *do* talk constantly talk over each other, I still enjoy listening to whatever they're yapping about. Plus, the Telltale style branching narrative story "Groot will remember that" mechanics keep you engaged in the conversations because you have to make dialogue choices that bend the narrative in unique ways. It also helps that the writing is consistently laugh-out-loud hilarious.

I can't wait to beat this and then immediately play through it again.

If you expect an action game you will be disppointed. It's more like an interactive movie. Very good graphics and sound.

Simple fun with a good story, excellent dialogue, and an interesting world to explore. I cannot understate how good the dialogue, voice acting, and world building is. It is A tier with some of it being A+ at times. The MCU has fallen on hard times which put me off of buying this game but it is very worth it. Especially as the video game format allows for so much more depth and diversity to the Marvel universe than a live action movie can do. The combat is certainly it's weakest part but everything else makes up for it in stride. Choices do have an impact, even if some are minimal while others completely change how levels are played. Finally, it plays great! Bug free after 19 hours with excellent visuals and sound design.

Overall. Worth a full price purchase and a must have on sale for anyone who likes RPG's or the Marvel universe.
