[SPOILERS] Main Story Quest Help

Here are some answers to a few common questions about the main story for anyone who may be stuck at certain points. If you have any other questions, please feel free to post them below and we'll update this post as needed.

Please note: This thread may contain SPOILERS, so please read at your own discretion!

How do I find the Admiral/Fleet Captain in "Trial By Fire"?
When you are first told to gather intrigue on the Admiral's whereabouts, you have optional goals to speak to a tavern keeper or governor. Try speaking to them from any friendly harbour and asking for information, then look for a "Ship Sighting" intrigue with a quest exclamation-mark (!).

This first piece of intrigue tells you which region the Admiral was last seen in, and suggests speaking to a tavern keeper or governor in that region to find out more. Try going there and speaking to them to find the next pieces of intrigue (there should be two available).

How do I find the target ship (Audacious) in "The Hunt"?
This process is similar to finding the Admiral in the previous quest; speak to any tavern keeper or governor to find the first piece of intrigue, and that will tell you which region to look in next.

The difference this time is that the next pieces of intrigue are usually in enemy-controlled towns, so you will need to sneak in to find out more. Approach one of the towns in the target region and choose the "Sneak in" option. If you succeed, you can go and speak to the tavern keeper to find the intrigue you need.

If you fail to sneak in, you will alert the fort and defending ships, so you should try to disengage to escape the fight. Once you get away, you need to wait at least one in-game day before you can try sneaking into that town again, so you can either go to a different town in the same region (if there is more than one) or sail away and come back later.

You can increase your chances of sneaking into towns by setting a smaller ship as your flagship and unlocking the False Flag ability.

How do I capture the target ship (Audacious) in "The Hunt"?
You have three options for capturing this ship:
1) Sail to the ambush point on the map to fight it in a normal ship battle.
2) Steal it from the harbour it is currently docked in (select "Fort and Ships" and then choose "Steal Ship" from the town menu when you arrive).
3) If you try sneaking into the town and fail, you can capture the ship when it attacks you at sea.

Please note that sneaking into the town does NOT allow you to steal the ship. You can only do this by using the "Steal Ship" option in the town menu, as described above.

As this is a quest ship, you do NOT need "Cutting Out Expedition" ability to use the "Steal Ship" option, and you do NOT need the "Requisition" ability to add it to your fleet once you capture it.

how do you even progress during trial by fire? the game puts you against another ship while in a really bad one the quest where you are escaping, basically gives no rewards, then puts you against another ship that needs to be defeated, this time with literally no rewards

confused on how I am supposed to repair because otherwise I'm soft locked because I get easily beat in every single fight

nevermind I just cheesed the ai by repairing myself while it turned to make myself invincible, still don't think that should be necessary (which I assume it basically is since the top review seemed to have that problem) I think the faction should at least give a loan, but tbh even them literally just compensating you for taking down an enemy they asked you to take down doesn't even seem unreasonable to me. Letting people do partial repairs could work too

yo i cant find intrigue about this audacius ship, what am i doing wrong? ive been in in i think every town and nothing

I do have the same problem. It might be because the "hint" in which region to search for the next bit of intrigue disappears and is not recorded in the quest log. However, this is the second time this happened for me and I took care at the end of "Trial by Fire" to read everything. There is no "The Hunt" intrigue to be found with any tavern or governor, to include taverns in hostile towns after sneaking in. At this point I would have to go into almost every settlement on the map to hopefully find the "intrigue", or find out that I am suffering from a bug...

Hi, you can find a record of the intrigues you have found in the Intrigue (🔍) tab of your Captain's Log (same menu that includes the Quest log). The quest-related ones with the relevant hints should be in there.

With that reply I now have to call BUG, not bad WAD:

Just looking, in the Intrigue tab there are only two intrigues I bought in desperation due to being stuck in the main quest. The quest log only tells me to "gather intrigue" on the whereabouts of the Audacious. That means I should be at the stage where any governor or bartender should point me to the region where I can get the more detailed hint. But at bartenders and governors only "standard" short-term intrigues are available.

Yeah I am stuck on the main quest too. I Didn't under stand on what the Intrigue was for and it timed out for me. find where it could be

Quest intrigues are not supposed to expire until you complete the objectives that require them. If it did expire, that's a bug we'll need to investigate. What is your current quest objective, and do you have anything in your Intrigue log?

Hey! I stole the Audacious, but the Main quest didn't coutinue. The ship don't show in the city anymore. So I tried to sail to the ambush and capture it there. Now I have two Andacious in my fleet =P
But it's buggy. If I'm with one of them selected, I can't select the another one. Like in the loot screen. I renamed one of them, but this continue

Hi, which version of the game are you running? (The version number is shown in the main menu.)

And how exactly did you steal the Audacious the first time?
