I play mainly old yugioh (not even GX) and this game is perfect

Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution is an okay experience, but it falls short in many areas compared to the classic Yu-Gi-Oh! games from the GBA and DS era. The constant pop-ups during duels, especially when you have trap cards set, can be very annoying and disrupt the flow of gameplay. The older games handled this much better, keeping the action smooth and engaging.

Playing through the story mode is fun, but it feels very barebones compared to past games. The 3D monster animations are underwhelming; instead of showing actual attack animations, they just recycle the summoning animations, which makes the duels feel less dynamic. Simple visual prompts for classic cards like Swords of Revealing Light are also missing, a feature that was present even in older GBA and DS titles. This gives the game a drop in quality, although it’s somewhat understandable given the massive pool of 10,000+ cards.

The biggest issue is how much the game has shifted towards lengthy combos and one-sided duels. Modern Yu-Gi-Oh! feels more about executing long, complex plays rather than the strategic back-and-forth “tug-of-war” that defined the classic era. It often feels less like a duel and more like watching someone else play solitaire.

We need a high-quality Yu-Gi-Oh! game for the old fans—something that captures the heart of the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) format with RPG mechanics, an overworld to explore, and a sense of progression by collecting cards and dueling NPCs. A game that goes back to the roots and celebrates the strategic, creative gameplay of the classic series would be a dream come true.

Just my thoughts on the current state of Yu-Gi-Oh! games.

Not worth 50 for this duel simulator but for 10 bucks sure.
