"Tactics" is a nicely crafted, "XCOM2 - lite" sort of title. It's more forgiving than some of its other partners in the tactical genre, and the metagame of squad management is less fiddly. (You don't have to deal with injuries or time passing in the same ways as in other games.) Overall, the quality-of-life choices made by the developers tended to align with what I wanted, which I appreciated.

There's a large population of "standard-issue, gruff, military types" throughout, but I can't imagine that anyone was expecting otherwise. Even so, there's a decent twist or two in the plot to keep things interesting.

The handcrafted, setpiece missions struck me as being really well done, with tactical challenges that ramp up appropriately. The side missions were fine, but the sense of them being semi-procedurally generated filler (well suited to some sort of live-service, play forever game) eventually got the upper hand.

I did get jammed up on what I think is the final battle. The encounter wants you to be fast and agile, but I did very well throughout the whole game by being slow and cautious. I suppose I could have done a re-spec on my characters, but I've reached the age where, when I stop having fun, I put down the no-longer-fun thing and walk away without much regret.

"Tactics" is a perfectly decent entry into this style of game. I think it's worth checking out.

I got this game a few years back. I was into another games, but this one seemed cool for "another time". Forgot about it and downloaded it back yesterday... Game opened and suddenly promted me to sign in into xbox... I don't even remember if I even had an account. Tried a couple of emails without success.

So I just gave up and went into gaming other titles. So I came back today and realized that if I do not care about finding an old fogotten xbox account to play this, then it is obviously a thumbs down for me...

Honestly, it's either tedious and repetitious, or it's chaotic and frustrating.
Tried to like it and at least finish the campaign but I lost the will to do so.
