Amazing Tabletop software that really allows you to push the limits of most things when it comes to VTT's. I cant say how it competes as it is my first, but as a newer GM this thing is awesome, i bought the Standard license until im ready to host sessions, however we mainly play homebrewed content for D&D 5e so it can be a bit tricky finding a system that works. This one absolutely does! it has allowed me to add so much content to our worlds, and beyond that allowed me to play a custom ruleset entirely (with a little effort). This VTT supports community driven .mod files to extend the usage of the program without needing intense coding knowledge just to add a few automations or features (i.e. "NPCs auto roll death saves")

If you want a virtual tabletop to play roleplaying games, this is one of the best choices for a Gamemaster - especially if you play D&D or any of the directly supported rulesets. I say this because while most of the better VTTs have a pretty good *player* experience, the Gamemaster experience varies widely and this is where spending money really helps.

With FGU if you have the DLC books for your RP game makes it extremely easy to prep your games. It's a matter of drag and dropping monsters into encounters and then drag and dropping the monster tokens from the encounters onto a map. You can make your own maps, use theater of the mind maps or grab them from the Internet because maps are easy to add to a campaign. And this is if you are Home brewing your own campaigns - if you buy an adventure module DLC its already been done for you.

Smitework's web forums and discord are amazing resources as well. FGU does have a steep learning curve if you want to learn *everything* but if you just want to run a game by rolling dice and moving tokens for the PCs and monsters around the map that's pretty easy, IMO.
