Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

Customized Controls?
Hello, I recently set up Ginput on vice city on my steam deck and it's a lot better with this mod, but I haven't been able to figure out how to map individual controls within the game using this method. Sure I could use the steam deck to remap actual buttons but that would screw up things between driving and walking. I was hoping ginput might have a way of allowing me to individually map buttons in a way like:

;walking-controls
A=Jump
R2=Attack
L2=Sprint

;driving controls
R2=Accelerate
L2=Brake
RightStickX=CameraHorizontal
RightStickY=CameraVertical
LeftStickX=MoveLeftRight
LeftStickY=MoveForwardBackward

etc....

Does anyone know if there's a way to do this? Or at least how to get it set to the original xbox controls?

For that matter, is there any way to make this play more like the xbox version in other ways too? I recall having the option to set custom waypoints, save almost whenever i wanted, etc. I could just be misremembering, but if anyone knows of any mods for these things definitely let me know.

Thanks!

if you use ginput, just set currentcontrolset=5 for a GTA 4 style setup in the ginput.ini

dont remap anything in the game or via steam input

Thanks for the reply.
That's how I currently have it, but there are problems. Particularly when trying to play the first person mod. If I get into a car in first person and try to accelerate it automatically points the camera to the right, and if I brake it points it to the left.
On top of that I just like having A set as jump rather than X. Granted that one is more nit picky. It would just be nice to be able to set individual controls and have the game do what I need.
The driving controls vs walking controls makes something like xpadder or the Steam controller setup incompatible unfortunately so I wanted to see if there was a way to re-map in game.
Guess this is just not something the community has been able to develop yet. Ah well.

in the ginput file Enable analog stick drive by... It changes the right analog stick to look left right or backward... It seems like you need to restore default controls. The bumpers should not be the triggers...

Well thanks anyways, but I'd rather live without the first person mod than have any button other than r2 be to shoot. Thats how ive played gta for decades. Was just hoping for a way to remap the controls, but it seems there is no way to do that. Ah well.

I imagine the difference between our setups extends beyond the controller manufacturer.
