Purchasing the expansion from Steam as an old player

My account is very old, didn't create it from Steam but I play the game via running it from here for some time now, can I buy the expansion from Steam? I have some money in my Steam wallet so don't want to spend extra.

Nope. There is no way to connect an account to Steam.

you can link the executable but you will lose all the access the gemstore and you will need to buy the expansion from the website i did that

All content bought on the Steam store for GW2 will always go to a newly created GW2 account that is directly linked to your Steam account. It is impossible to buy any content for an old account here on Steam.

To clarify:
If you have a GW2 account on ANet, anything you buy (through ANet) will only work with that ANet account.

If you have a GW2 account on Steam, anything you buy (through Steam) will only work with your Steam account.

Anything purchased on Steam will not work with your ANet account, even if you link it through Steam via Launch Options (and vice-versa)
