You just need to use the extra long extension, Actually, it's been a bit since I've had a chance to play, but I believe that I just use the long extension to clean it while, of course, being on the second floor. You can easily clean the palace without any ladders or anything to stand on. Make sure to move around, too, to get at all angles.
