Are all Definitive Edition the same on every platform ?
Hello guys, so i have played DQ11 around 2018 on the ps4 and now i want to play it again i just dont know for wich platform i should get it. I have read that the Switch versiom has more Content then every other version of the Definitive Edition is that true? i have also read that the switch has only 1 costume more and now im completly confused. Can someone tell me if the Definitive Edition is always the same for every platform? or am i missing out on content if i buy it for the ps4.

Thanks and i appreciate your answers.

There is one costume that is Switch exclusive, though you could get it on the PC too thru its console command.

For that reason alone, the PC version is the best version.

Definitive Edition was originally on the Switch. Every other version of it on other platforms is just a straight port, so they are the same. There will only be a difference in graphics settings and resolution.

I think the only truly unique version of DQ11 is the 3DS version, which was only released in Japan

I wonder how much content, if any, was compromised to make the 3DS ver.

3ds has some stuff with Tickerton not in any other version. There's a couple good videos in YT that go into it.

3DS is a completely different game
There's other changes in the S version that are rarely named and some of them that I can think off are.

1- The skill database that determines when or where characters learn skills had been changed, Veronica starts with Crackle and Rab will learn multi heal much later.

2- The horse race in Gallopolis will be available as soon as that certain event happens where you race for the very 1rst time. This will give you more time to use the Gallopolitan Garb and a reason to upgrade it.

3- A certain legendary weapon now uses a new key item instead of the regular material item, probably to avoid a soft lock. (Will not say to avoid spoilers)

4- The 2nd set of the Trodain set got fully removed. (good riddance btw as it was trash and required full pep ups to make. )

The rest of the changes had been documented and are covered on various websites and forums already.

And yes the 3Ds version of DQXI is different than all others save the story.

I'll be honest, this actually did confuse me on my first playthru. So that's the reason.

Either that or to make you walk more on the 3rd chapter.

the definitive versions are switch ports with downgraded graphics. there are mods to restore what the regular non definitive version had.

DE was already "downgraded" with lower polygon models, lower resolution textures, and reduced foliage. It was not "downgraded" again when it was ported. In fact the ports look better than the Switch. They still have the lower poly models but everything else looks better. And as you said you can add these back into the game with those mods. The lighting however can't ever be "fixed". The original DQ11 used an entirely different lighting engine. But with some .ini tweaks and those mods, DE can look as good as if not better than the original
