Really wished to enjoy it, but right now it's just too rough. Would have preferred to leave a neutral review as I'd like to see the game fixed, rather than abandoned. There's a lot of good stuff here, but it needs to be tied together better. Haven't had any issues with crashes that other negative reviews mention. The story was rather enjoyable and I'd like to see it wrapped up, but playing through the missions is really rather frustrating right now.

I think my main problem is that in a settlement of 10 people, having half of them die of old age is really suboptimal in terms of getting stuff done. I see where devs are coming from, you maybe don't want people leveling up a super team versed in all skills, but is that really such a problem? Give me the easier mode option please. Some resources don't renew. I think the game is trying to push me to rush through the main objectives, but does it need to? I'd like to explore the map, collect the lore pages, encounter the Horrors and wrap stuff up.

Inventory management is also a mess. Each character has 3 item slots. September 2023 update added an option to trade items between all of them, but what the game still needs is a bank or armoury. Just let me pick up everything, store it in the Gord. Don't leave everything lying around.

September 2023 had a big update that automated a lot of the micromanagement. It kinda addresses a lot of the problems people had. It's bonkers you needed to do all that stuff manually. Hope the devs can push another big update to make the game a lot more user friendly and streamlined.

Village building with survival elements. Exploration and fighting. Trying your best to make good decisions and not feed the baby to the monsters. Pretty good game. Not sure why it got negative reviews. I have been enjoying it. Use pause and keep an eye on everyone in your village , save often. This game takes a while to build up a population, and you have to protect everybody well to keep them all alive. Your gatherers will go and find monsters and you have to recall them and counter the monsters with your fighting group. SO its Strategy too, because you have to gather enough to build up and survive, but also have a group of fighters to give you a chance against the evil things that attack you in the game. Knowing when to train new Axe men and archers is important. You really need to give this game a chance for the first couple levels , so you know whats going on. It resembles many city survival games, but its definitely its own. I like how they did the combat. And you will fight much better with a torch in your fighting group, but protect your torch and your archers well. And you have to make sure you do not have to starve... So its also time management, because you have to build up quickly while exploring large maps in the darkness. It gives you time to do things , but there are also plot triggers you have to be mindful of. I just found it to be a well made game that seems to have not gotten enough attention. Glad I picked it up.

The game convinced me from the get go. I love base building games and this game not only gives you that, but is also so unforgiving, that you have to play some scenarios more than twice ;).

I personally enjoyed the dark atmosphere, the completely out of scale monsters (the big ones) and just the "simple" task of keeping your Gord sane and alive <3
