It is common for publishers to list store pages well in advance of a game's release.
Valve encourages this approach, as outlined in their publisher documentation:
Put up a Coming Soon page as soon as you’re ready and able, so interested customers can add your product to their wishlist and get notified at launch.
You can read the entire Steamworks documentation on Wishlist best practices here:

The discussions surrounding "seeds and updates" are intended for our crowdfunding backers, who currently have access to a closed Alpha of the game. There are thousands of Alpha participants and dozens of videos available on YouTube featuring various stages of gameplay.
The game will not be available for purchase until development reaches the Beta stage. We understand if this is frustrating, but in the meantime, there are many other great games available on Steam.
"just because something is common practice, it doesn't mean it's a good practice"
and yea, in my case the hype has more than hit rock bottom by now and delisted it from all notifications because of it, since i simply don't cater to developers that play carrot on a stick with their potential customers.
Common practice with gaming is to tease your product for YEARS before even giving a release date (which is usually a year or more from the reveal).
one would expect someone that apparently has 12 years on steam to know how to check how long someone's been around, but whatever, like i said above, "common practice =/= always good practice" but thanks for reminding me to un-sub from this channel as well.
