Dead bodies on the field

This is a very silly question I know but i'm just curious. Say a unit has 8 little spearman guys and i do X damage to him ... so then 1 of the little guys disappears from the unit and 1 dead body shows on the field? Are the dead guys directly correlated like that?

Yes, they are. When the unit of 8 models has lost more than 1/8th of its full strength, one model falls to the ground and dies, leaving 7 active models in the unit.

And so on for further losses.
