Half Life mods are one of my favorite gaming comfort foods, most of them are solid experiences that stand a cut above most campaign modding communities. Amalgam is like your typical Half Life 2 mod, an Amalgamation of some of the settings and systems from the real games; from the Whiteforest dune-buggy and "citadel-like finale" to the annoying platforming sections, Amalgam contains both the best and worst parts of Half Life 2 Episode 2. I don't even really remember the story because it was... forgettable, but the maps were generally solid, with good enemy variety and a nice range of creepier sequences to more actions oriented. On the negative side of things: There weren't any standout new songs and there were some particularly egregious offenses like key items needed to progress getting stuck in out of reach areas (softlocks). But overall it's a solid HL2 mod thats worth a play when you a couple of hours on your hands.

A very fun, fairly standard Half Life 2 mod but with a cool section near the end. My only complaint was no Gnome achievement. I brought it all the way to the end and unfortunately nothing. But regardless, high quality and surprised by the original voice acting.
