I think at the beginning the game and development were good. But ever since they backed down on free-to-play it went down the hill very fast. The game is super aggressive with microtransations, with different pop ups and messages both in the starting menu and in-game. More content added in patches is actually behind the additional paywall than for free for all to access. So all this "extra, constantly added content"? Yeah, you have to pay for 60% of it. The game uses FOMO tactics heavily.
Aside from microtransactions, the main storyline got a last update almost 1.5 years ago. One year and four months to be precise. All the updates and quests added since then were just independent small fillers, all while there are still areas in the Valley you can't access 2 years after the game release.
Additional complaint is the fact that there really isn't that much to do overall. You can cook, fish, mine, plant, dig, harvest and talk to Disney characters. Your character can't interact with anything else apart from sitting. So you end up doing 7 things on loop.
Moreover, ever since couple of updates ago, the game is very buggy with heavy lag on certain devices. For me, one of the newly added characters is completely broken and stuck on the same dialogue. So you can't even expect the new content to be working.
If you're a massive Disney fan, I think you'll still enjoy this game, but overall the development of this game has been going in a direction I don't like, focusing on making money of the player while delivering mediocre and non-meaningful content while still offering less mechanics and gameplay than other farm simulation games.

I got nearly zero plan who all this lil cuties on my island are, 'cause I've literally never watched more than Cinderella, Lion King, Wall·e and Ratatouille, but I just love this game. It's so relaxing and a bit like an "Animal Crossing for pc" -version.

Could be less payment related, but it's acceptable since we got more ways to earn moonstones ingame now.
I'm not sayin' it's a typical 'Gameloft' thing, but it's a typical 'Gameloft' thing..so nothing specially to criticize Dreamlight Valley for.

So..many people are complaining 'bout the multiplayer not being a multiplayer as expected. Well, devs never said it would be a "you can do everything you're doin' in singleplayer, do in multiplayer as well"-thing. They said „You will be able to visit other valleys.” -And that's simply what they did. It's a showoff for your island. (Keep in mind, that they mentioned the multiplayer getting expanded in the 2024/25 roadmap.)

I've also read some bad reviews about irregular multiplayer disconnections, but never happend to me. You'll have to wait a bit till you get fully access to a friends- or randoms valley, but just make yourself a tea or something. Never waited more than 5 mins.

So, nothing negative to say here. (:

Great relaxing game

It resembles animal crossing in multiple aspects and it's a fun game. It's easy to spend hours playing it without noticing the time passing. It has some bugs here and there but the game is good and I recommend it to all AC and Disney fans.

Very frustrating because it should be super fun! But it's way too glitchy and the microtransactions in a game I already had to pay over 150 for (so I could play it on two platforms, admittedly) is just so obnoxious and obviously very greedy. The prices aren't even good, it's very expensive to get the items. $40 for an outfit and some moonstones that would get maybe two good items, just for example.

This is world of warcraft level for disney.

I played this game first and mostly on Xbox Game Pass because it was too expensive on Steam until there was a sale! (probably upwards of 60+ hours on Xbox Game Pass, can't check cuz I don't own it there)

If you enjoy farming sims, relationship building, some cute and fun cosmetic stuff, then I'd think you'd enjoy this game. I know some people will be put off by the Disney part of this- I was too!

But I have to admit, the devs are committed, there is multiplayer, tons of stuff to do, and they keep adding more.

I love running around farming with Jack Skellington or Remy!

This game is amazing! I love the graphics on this game there high quality and they add new characters ever now and then witch keeps the game fun and playable and there always some new game thing or adventure to do so you don't get board.
