Co-op/Multiplayer Troubleshooting
If you have issues with co-op/multiplayer try this:
  • Make sure you are online
  • Make sure you've invited at least one player
  • Try hosting with both normal and legacy hosting mode
  • Disable VPN!
  • Disable firewall
  • Make sure that if you are playing a workshop map, all the players have it installed. (just click Subscribe in the Workshop)
  • Make sure all the players have the same game version.
  • Verify game files on Steam. (right click the game in the Steam library > Properties > Local files > Verify...)
  • Try restarting your PC
If nothing else works, please send us your player.log. You can find it here:
  • Windows: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Pine Studio\Escape Simulator\Player.log
  • MacOS: ~/Library/Logs/Pine Studio/Escape Simulator/Player.log
  • Linux: ~/.config/unity3d/Pine Studio/Escape Simulator/Player.log

Thanks, I had issues hosting on both master and beta, but my co-op player was able to host and we played for 3+ hours without issue!

I am having issues with connecting/hosting to a multiplayer lobby on both the current and legacy system when it's also playing with someone else in the same household. Is there an IP conflict situation happening?

The same household shouldn't be a problem. Did you try everything from the list?
If nothing else works please send you .log file so we can check it out

Resolved, thank you. Verifying files did not catch anything, but a complete reinstall on both machines seemed to work.

I can’t start any workshop maps. It won’t try to launch them, but I’m clearly subscribed. Any tips? i have reinstalled and verified files. turned off firewalls. It shows the maps im subbed to in game and gives me the play button but it will not launch on steam maps

I am in Canada and cannot play coop with my friends in the US, but I can play with others in Canada. How can I send you the player.log?

While I can host and play the default co-op maps in the game, I always struggle to run 95% of workshop maps in co-op. It could be because their maps tend to be very big and detailed, and this game simply struggles to deal with detailed maps with lots of graphics and interactables really badly in coop mode. I think there should be an option to flag maps which can run for single player but not for coop.

I keep getting "reconnecting" hanging and forcing a restart when hosting for 2 friends. Any tips on how to improve that? We keep losing progress :(

Sorry to hear you're having trouble! If you tried to above mentioned suggestions/steps, please join our Discord and share you gamefile logs! That will help us address the problem and hopefully find a solution for you

I just installed the game to play with my friends, we all have this same issue. When we join another lobby we connect but instantly get kicked for a wrong version error, we've verified our games and reinstalled and double checked we are all running version v1.0.21507r

We've release a small update yesterday so probably someone has a different version. Please restart Steam and update the game before trying again. ;)
