Look outside, in the big yellow square that says pick up here. That is where all items will be placed by locksmith and appraisers.

Honestly they could have said that in game. I fell for that to. Last night opened my first chest yesterday and it was just gone. I figured that it was added to my profit and it wasn't I noticed later. I found that out after I said my next one there is a pick up spot. I just dropped some items off at jewelry appraiser in black elk and it takes 3 hours. I am about to go to bed and it says everything that isn't in the truck or warehouse will be gone. I am BOLDLY assuming that they will still be there tommorow for me to pick up. If not that's just egg on my face I guess.

As long as the items are IN the locksmith or appraisers, they are fine. If you click to pick them up, then go to bed, the items outside will vanish. So you can drop off and go to bed no problem. Just don't collect them and leave them lying on the ground overnight.

Yes the game does not do a good job explaining where things will go when picked up. A lot of people are confused about this at first.

No, because the Steam Deck doesn’t show text too well. So when you park the car in front of the building you overlook the text on the ground. But it works yes, the items are there after the pickup from the locksmith
