Save stuck
So I'm an idiot and am looking for any help possible.
I just got a shiny Wrinkler and thought, "oh cool, I wanna see what my little friend looks like in this other Workshop reskin I have!" So , without turning off the lower priority Wrinkler reskin, I turned on the higher priority one. On reload, my entire screen is frozen. Save and Quit does nothing, I don't think I'm gaining cookies, and while I can go to the mod manager in-game, it won't let me reload. Tooltip windows appear, but the last one I hovered over doesn't disappear. I tried unsubscribing and deleting the higher priority Workshop I'd activated, closing from Steam, and reopening. Every time, it gets stuck and I have to force close.
I have 414 hours in Cookie Clicker and was so excited to have gotten my first shiny croissant. I'd be heartbroken to loose not only my little friend, but my ENTIRE save like this. I don't know what to do.
I'm just a moron that doesn't know how files and stuff works. Is there anything I can do to save my croissant and bring back my bakery?

Verifying game files or reinstalling the game might help as long as the save file isn't corrupted.

Might be worth backing up your save file which is located in: <Steam-folder>\userdata\<user-id>\1454400\remote\save.txt

Edit: not entirely sure if the pcgamingwiki save location is correct.

I already tried verifying... and I'm scared to do a reinstall since I lost another save in a different game that I've never been able to get back. I checked my file paths and the number isn't there.
Very sorry, thanks. Maybe I'll try a reinstall if I can't figure out anything else. The Export Save button does give me something to Copy+Paste if that would substitute the folder I can't find.

Much appreciation :stardrop:

Yeah if the ingame save export works that should be fine. Just use that, save it into a text file and paste it in the import save file if you need it.

It's a good idea to use the save export to back up your save file occasionally anyways.

Would it work through a reinstall? Buttons work until I try to do something that reloads.
I am definitely gonna start using Exports regardless of if I have to restart from scratch or not though. It's a bad habit I NEED to break...

Save exports work even in someone else's game and between the browser and steam version. Reinstalling should not have effect on that.

Also the game saves on steam cloud and I don't think uninstalling usually deletes the save file. Might not even need the export.

In the off chance someone else has this happen to them too, I:
-Copied my export as an emergency backup
-Went to Installed Files (right clicking on the game in my Steam list) copied my mods to an outside folder, and deleted the game's copies
-Unsubscribed from all of my Workshop mods (but favorited so I can find them again easily
-Reinstalled the game the few times after opening still didn't work
-Opened/closed it a few times, for some reason it kept my graphics and such
-Somehow it randomly decided to work, the only thing I lost was how much my Wrinklers had eaten
I re-subscribed to my Workshop list and re-pasted my mods, grabbed a new Save Export, tried to switch to the Workshop mod again, and it did the same thing. So I did the same process, except I didn't even have to reinstall before it worked. I'm not going to try using that reskin anymore. (Nothing against the maker, my pc is the one that's unhappy. Keep being cool!)
Either way, I got my save back, it functions, and the majority of my mods and Workshops show up on the list. Plus I still have a sparkling croissant with googly eyes chewing on a circular hamster.

I owe you 414 hours plus a Shiny Wrinkler of thanks. Very much appreciation for your help, you saved my bakery :slimetabby:
Hey, I've had the same issue. It seems that it actually has something to do with mods.
Removing the Wrinkler Cookie Bank mod from local folder seems to have helped.

Yeah, some mods just seem to disagree. I'm not super-surprised that my pc threw a random tantrum, right in line with normal
