An extremely disappointing "sequel" to Dungeon of the Endless.

1. Fundamental problems
-Dust doesn't exist in this game as much as it should, which is quite odd considering this is the "endless" series. The only purpose dust has here is to power un-powered rooms, which spawn randomly and are quite uncommon.
-Turrets in dungeon of the endless 1 could shoot enemies in the same room they were in. Turrets in Endless dungeon now have individual limited range.
-Game is less resource management based and is now more like Diablo 4 with minor tower defence (which is a very odd direction for the Endless series FIDS turn-based management).
-Enemy wave spawning is now on a guaranteed timer, spawning a wave regardless of activity after every opened room. I now have to waste time waiting around for the wave to spawn so I don't stack 2 waves on top of each other.
-Enemy spawning locations are fixed. You no longer have the joy of controlling where enemies spawn by powering and unpowering rooms. My brain remains unused. Unpowered rooms also no longer act as enemy spawning points and can be powered only to place turrets and modules in that room.
-In all other Endless games a little information window would pop up when you hovered the mouse over something, explaining what that something was useful for and what it did. That is no longer the case here.
-Awkward direction based inspection. You can stand right next to a turret and not have the inspect key pop up unless you turn the directional indicator under your character towards the object. It may not feel like much, but the irritation of the inspect window not popping up to open doors or replace turrets adds up over time.
-Crystal is now carried by the world's slowest robot, and damage to the crystal is now inconsequential (in the first game, crystal damage reduced your dust, which impacted powering rooms).
-The slow crystal robot issue is exacerbated by the presence of floor slots that you need the robot to carry the crystal to, to open doors or gain extra resources or upgrades. You can easily waste 10 extra minutes per zone doing this, especially if these modules are on the opposite sides of the map. It's not that hard, it's just extremely tedious.
-The addition of bosses. You can now waste time killing endless mobs while you do chip damage to the boss one tick at a time. Then every set % of boss hp, it "hunkers down" and you can't damage it until you open more rooms, then you get to repeat the entire cycle over and over again. Again, it's not that hard, it is just extremely tedious.
-From what I can see, the hero pool is very limited, including heroes I have yet to unlock. I don't know what is to be released, but as of now there really isn't much to choose from.
-What happened to the only difficulties being "easy" and "very easy"?
-Monsters now spawn when you research new technology, every new tech causes a wave to spawn. Not hard, just a waste of time.
-Heroes no longer heal to full HP after each wave but instead get a small heal instead. They also enter a down state instead of just dying immediately. I don't want a safety net, I just want to die. Life isn't as precious anymore in this game. Also, if you get too severely damaged in 1 wave, you'll just be camping behind turrets all day long for the entire level. Not hard, just tedious.


2. A design change from the harsh, detail-rich graphics of the first game to a sterile, unappealing plastic art style with sound effects appearing as comic-book style cell-shaded text (BOOOM, SPRAYYYY, FWOOOOM).
-Beautifully drawn and story rich cinematic cutscenes replaced by microsoft office powerpoint presenation slides of comic strips. Not to say the art isn't decent, but it just feels like it has no soul.
-Voices are annoying and dialogue is shallow and uninteresting. I feel like I'm playing out a boring marvel movie. Half of the lines spoken by the characters don't even need to be there. It just emphasises their bland, non-existent character or tells me absolutely nothing about them.
-Music is generic, repetitive and uninteresting, especially the music that plays when moving the crystal to an objective/exit.

3.Incredibly buggy both in dungeons and the hub. There may be more bugs that I haven't found yet.
-Using the hacking post in the hub freezes your character in place, forcing a restart.
-You can hold down left-click to fire your weapon continuously, but it stops randomly and you need to left click again to restart firing.
-Sweeper's Q ability is not automatic like the other heroes, forcing you to press the skill button twice to use it (first time to bring up target area, second time to use skill). This effectively freezes you in place until you double-press the skill.
-Monster attack graphics randomly disappear when firing, so you can get hit by something invisible from offscreen.
-Artillery robot fires purple sky lasers that don't disappear after the attack animation is finished, which can stick onto character models that touch them and follow them around like a long stick taped to your arm.
-Using certain hub terminals (library, hacking port, etc.) locks you into that port preventing you from doing anything else, forcing you to restart your game.

This game feels more like a response to tap into the type of players that dropped the original game due to whatever it was they didn't like, which in most cases was lack of freedom of movement and the players' refusal to actually attempt learning on how to play the game.
The original was a roguelike so you've had to do random ♥♥♥♥ to discover how everything works, if you die you die, at least you know how to do better next time and another. This game? Doesn't feel like it at all.

It feels like a completely different dev team tacked on this game which is likely true and the free giveaway of the original game was their means of learning how to re-sell an existing idea but make it fitting for the 'modern audience'.

Honestly, the fact that they turned the saloon joke from DOTE into a real thing should already be enough of a red flag.

Oh, and there's also the whole Denuvo DRM thing that is being used for this game, have fun with that.

It's not perfect, but the game is fun. Don't buy it expecting Dungeon of the Endless 2 as the gameplay is quite different.
Environments, soundtrack and character design are great. The main issue is the game's overall balance, which the developers have improved since its release. I'm still having a good time playing the game, whether solo or coop, and you probably will too.

TLDR: overhated, give it a chance
