Re: Random Crashes/"Can't modify frozen hash"
Hello,

Thank you for calling our attention to the random crashes that are affecting a small number of players. Our findings show that these generally manifest as a popup error stating "can't modify frozen (something)", most often "can't modify frozen Hash", with the crash occasionally changing, occurring in multiple areas of the game including sometimes start up, and occasionally closing without an error message.

Efforts to combat this by simply patching the game are ongoing, but are currently slow as it cannot be reproduced consistently on the hardware available.

Currently, the error is seen to most commonly present in 14th Gen Intel i9 processors with high end motherboards, but has been seen less commonly in 13th gen i9 processors and even less commonly in 13th or 14th gen i7 processors. We have narrowed down the conflict to AI overclocking features being enabled, being overclocked over manufacturer spec (some high end motherboards will do this out of the box on "Auto", so you may not be aware of it), and/or the processor clocks running at over 5.6ghz (56x core ratio). In all instances where this conflict has been identified, it was able to be resolved by turning off AI Overclocking and making sure none of the CPU cores were running over 56x.

If you are NOT already unpredictably crashing, you are not affected by this error, and do NOT need to take any action.

In the meantime, if you have been affected, you can attempt to take the following steps as a workaround:

- If you have a tuning/overclocking utility on your computer, such as Alienware Command Center, ASUS Armory Crate, MSI Dragon Center/MSI Center, or Intel XTU, these generally will have overclocking options you can adjust within windows. The user guides for these apps will have more info on how to adjust overclocking settings.
- If you do NOT have any of these apps installed, you will need to access overclocking options through the BIOS. It is recommended you have a reference from the manufacturer ready, as this will differ greatly between motherboard manufacturers and bios version.
- Once you have determined how you are going to modify your overclocking settings, you'll want to look for the following settings:
- If there is an option to just turn OFF all overclocking features, try this first.
- Anything that says AI Overclocking should be set to OFF
- Max core speed/max pcore speed should not exceed 5600mhz/5.6ghz/56x core ratio. Adjust DOWN only, and only if it was already above this threshold.
- you do NOT need to adjust voltage, RAM frequency, or anything else on these menus.
- (re)boot windows and try to play the game to see if the issue resolved.

If you need help with any of these steps, feel free to drop a support ticket in the discord and I will do my best to walk you through it based on your hardware configuration.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

my CPU is i9 13980HX and i will not encounter this crash until i lower core ratio to 48x.50 to 55x core ratios are still frequent to lead to this problem.

Is there any further update on this? It's still preventing me from playing the game and while a workaround is appreciated, the idea of fiddling with BIOS settings and then having to revert back and forth after playing if it even works is a bit much.
