The Doors of Trithius

Reading question [Need help]
Why does reading progress sometimes just stop? I'm standing near the study bench and nothing happens. The percentage stands still for many rounds.

Afaik, if you gain wisdom xp, for the next 100 turns you make progress in studying a book with 0.1 % per turn (for normal studying speed).

This applies inside a map tile or dungeon. Don't know how it works while travelling the overworld map.

There's various factors at play, including the difficulty factor of the book, your reading level, your number of manually invested points into reading (each point equals 5% faster wisdom gain), and also your character's movement speed (as this dictates the amount of time passed per wait).

I suppose theoretically you could collect and equip gear with move speed malus, when trying to level reading. The actual time passed to read the book in the game world would be identical, but the number of clicks waiting would reduce, as your character is taking more time within a given round.

However the skill upgrade in reading that increases wisdom gain while reading, means to take advantage of the bonus, you should try to make sure you're actively gaining experience from crafting etc while you're reading, to maximize its intended benefit.

Thanks for answer!
You're welcome!
I am now however vaguely recalling a post I read from the devs, regarding increased speed negatively impacting experience gain, and that they had fixed it, so I could be cultivating out dated knowledge on that point... I don't recall the specifics, but mathematically it is sound.

The intersecting of all of this games systems and their corresponding implications create a befuddling level of depth when looking into specific number crunching scenarios... and I love it

Devs mentioned on discord in an unrelated context that if you didn't have any sufficiently recent wisdom xp gain --- from any source, combat or whatever --- reading progress is halted.
