Digimon World Next Order is scratching my itch of games like Digimon World 1 and Re:Digitize - I really miss having more of 'em.

As good of a sequel to DW1 on PS1 as we can get.

It follows the same formula of throwing you into this world without many explanations (although still much more than the original DW1) and just learning by doing. For complete newcomers to the series this might be incredibly overwhelming and even frustrating just like it was to us 90s kids when we played DW1 for the first time. Even with knowledge from back then this game can still kick your butt in the beginning. But at least you probably won't get nothing but Numemon from your first few digivolutions :D

This game gets exponentially easier the more you play. You unlock more and more Tamer skills from just about anything you do in the game and those will make your Digimon stronger with each new reincarnation and give you lots of other perks. So don't stress progression too much in the beginning when you hit a wall and can't defeat story bosses immediately. It is possible to hit Mega digivolution from the first generation but you'll most likely only unlock them later and that's fine. But if you really want to get as powerful as possible quickly then look up training spots for battling. Because compared to DW1 or Re: Digitize, stat gains from battling are actually very viable and I'd say better than gym training if you know the right spots and it doesn't take any ingame time. You'll hit digivolution requirements (of which a number of battles is often a part of) much more easily and this'll allow your Digimon to live longer.

Overall I'm very happy with this game and as a sidenote a quick thank you to the dedicated modding community of this game that make this game even better than it was on PS4. For example I understand why the camera was so glued to the player on the original small Vita screen but dear god it is so much better when you can zoom out a lot more with a mod and actually see your giant Mega Digimon fully when following you around.

I hope we'll eventually get a new installment in the Digimon World series. But I'd already be happy if we'd just finally get any updates on the new Digimon Story game that's been in development for years already.

I have to use Xbox one controller to play it since it better then using keyboard and mouse on it.
