Loving it. Just finished all achievements, should explain itself lol. Now onto the review:

If you're a Digimon fan it's a must buy and play.
But even if you've never played any Digimon game it's still good and probably the most comfortable "Digimon World" Game to start with because of all the QoL stuff compared to other World Games so you can get easier into it. Unlike the first World Game back then on the PSX, things get explained and shown here. You don't need any guide. No tedious very low % encounter recruits. It's not "too hard", but on your first playthrough you still might get into scary situations because some Digimons are VERY strong if you come (blind)unprepared. Not going to tell more because it'll spoil the game more.

It's great.. And even has replayability since you can start over again just raising different Digis throughout the main story for a somewhat different experience with different Techs (yes, techs really do matter). You can also make yourself challenges by playing the hard mode thats unlocked after beating the main story. Or come up with something for yourself like simply dont use items in battle etc.. really gives a different experience and surprisingly, it really was fun again, because then you'll rely more deeply on mechanics like the Defense Order, Item management, how you're approaching Digimons/bosses..

I've waited way too long for the proper sequel of OG Digimon World from PS1. I've waited some Digimon World game that is *designed for PC release*. Yet this is it! THE sequel! THE proper one!

So you know Tamagochi? That virtual pet-care franchise give inspiration to the original Digimon virtual pet; the concept was Tamagochi but for boys, where the creatures do battle and (in later versions) jogress (JOin proGRESS - basically a fusion) instead of marriage when two device connected. You must train and care your Digimon prior to those all, and the way you care will determine on how the Digimon will evolve and perform later. After the target market for the game think "I trained my vpets and continously winning, then what next?", the dev then developed the original Digimon World PS1.

This game is exactly that, but now in full 3D environment AND with a VERY long story!
You basically warped to Digital World and must fight against Machinedramon terror. While doing that, you will slowly restore the city of Floatia and uncover the mystery behind the terror!

Pro:
- The STORY! A surprisingly well-paced story for its niche and genre, even after you get your Digimon into Mega (the highest possible level of a Digimon)
- The GAMEPLAY! Compared to the prior Digimon Worlds, it as very wide roster for Digimon partner choice! The battle is straightforward; it evaluates your care for your Digimon instead of making you whining about enemy difficulty. It also has settable difficulty choices to ease/harden things up. The game also has justification why several underleveled Digimon in the anime series can have insane battle performance. And yes, they have minigames - the true quality-time mode to make memory with your companions when they are approaching their end of lifespan.
- The SOUND! The BGM especially is AAA grade so you don't have to worry having your adventure very bland.

Con:
- The STORY! It features key people from the other games: Re: Digitize and Cyber Sleuth, so new player will be confused.
- The GAMEPLAY! Economy is hard in this game! In the late game, you will be forced to farm something to fund your Digimon training program. By the meaning of "farming", no, it is not your regular RPG farming ritual; it is very grindy and in the long run, you'll 100% wonder whether you have bullied or scammed those digital lifeforms. About the monster-collecting aspect, I'm not sure you will be able to collect all the Digimon here on time, because unlike other monster collecting games, it really takes time to collect them all (unless you want to speedrun for it after you unlock certain game feature).
- The SOUND! The dev really reset the sound during building change in the same district, which ruin the really chill atmosphere if you try to roam around in that district.

Conclusion:
My playtime spent speak itself: a very good game for the rare and niche monster-caring genre. It feels more adventurous than the VN-style Monster Rancher and less clunky than the original Digimon World. A good game if you need to take a breath from your daily activities and decide to chill literally in Digital World.
