poo poo caca optimize your game

I can see why the reviews are mixed, but as it says in game and on the store page that its early access / not finished I can have leniancy on some things. The only worst thing I've encountered is getting stuck on random objects while trying to platform. I love the physics of the hover board and everything else though. The issue of enemy aggression I'm sure will be looked at in future updates but as for now I dont mind it too much.

For this type of game in concept in context to the original, I think it is fair that you should be on high alert considering the world building. Again, I understand not being able to stand still for even a second to check your maps sometimes, I have died from quite literally standing in a place I thought I was safe.

Overall I think it has a lot of potential and I'm definitely going to have above 1000 hours on this game in a year. I can't wait to see the direction that it takes in further development.

Things I see to fix:

- Platform glitching / getting stuck
- Enemy aggressiveness... unlockable safe area in a future patch? (please no micro-transactions)
- More interactivity in the Hub and map... I know this will be coming soon
- In-run UI, simplify or make the more important details stand out... times where theres too much to look at

What I was able to play of this whilst stomaching the framerate was fun, but a stuttery experience ranging anywhere from 40-80fps (at times this felt much worse, the frame pacing was a serious problem) at all minimum settings 1080p was just not acceptable

Would play the ♥♥♥♥ out of this if it ran better

Great game. Enter the level and kill a few things. Pick up a treasure or two and then extract. Repeat and youll have great gear after a few hours. The gear makes a massive difference in the game. Dont die because youll lose gear. The stores can upgrade your gear and character as well.

I hated this game until I understood it, now I cant stop playing. The first few hours of play are really tough, you have to keep going until you get the hang of the playstyle and figure out how the gear works.

I desperately want to love this game to the point that I told myself that I wouldn't post a review until I had beaten what the game had to offer at the moment but I just don't think its very good at the moment, combat feels middling and too simplistic. And its not like simple combat is bad (the previous game did it better) but here it feels far too underwhelming, small enemy groups are just a sack of potatoes but they WILL swarm you and at that point you are just better off running because they will continue to just swamp you like the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ horde. Exploration is also pretty uninteresting, which is insane to me given that thats what the first game was so good at! Here there is virtually nothing to find but degradable loot and currency! Yeah its a nice looking setting but there isn't anything of interest to find! You can say its in early access and that its a different game, but I'd argue early access should put out the strengths of the game you intend to improve on and not just release in a lacking state and say"oh we'll add the interesting stuff later" and if they didn't want me to compare the first and second games they shouldn't have marketed it as something in the same setting.
Also pet peeve because I didn't think this would be something I had to complain about but why does it take so long to just enter another run?? Like this is barely an issue in other roguelikes i play like slay the spire, balatro, or dead cells. Here I have to wait for a minute of a death screen to just go by so I can get control of my character back and start a run.
But yeah, as much as I wish I loved it, i just can't recommend breaker in it's current state. I genuinely hope the updates eventually make me eat my words so I can come back with a better outlook on it

So basically ive played this a decent bit and i was reluctant after reading the reviews but i was like ♥♥♥♥ it and tried it. And the only thing i have to say to about MOST (not all) of the reasons why people dont like this game is SKILL ISSUE. The game is pretty decently hard and that adds to it. You can literly spam doge and parry just get better. The combat imo is very satisfying. The change to the hoverboard must of been made by a vegtable idk why that was neccacary. But with how the game is right now in earl access and after looking at the roadmaps AND the mods i belive this will be peak and much more fun that it already is now.

A lot of people are calling this game out for a lot of reasons, and Imma be honest... none of them suit me. I love this game already, I picked it up because I need more roguelike games until Nightreign comes out, and I started playing it today.

10.1 hours... in one day... straight up... I was supposed to work today, y'know, I was supposed to be working, and I ended up playing 10.1 hours of the game, and I couldn't even beat ONE boss...

Yeah, this game is it IT. It has a lot of problems, yes, but none of them I believe are big enough for the massive dislikes that this game is receiving. Find enjoyment in the game and then send some feedback, don't give it a negative review just because it has a few issues it needs ironing out, I think this game is going places, it just needs more content from what I've seen... but who am I to say, I played 10.1 hours of the game in one day and I haven't even beating one ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ boss.

I think I'll say this: If you liked the gameplay of Hyper Light Drifter, movement and combat and all, you will like this as it is as I have played it (Early Access). If you liked Solar Ash's movement and combat, you will probably struggle with this, but adjustment is possible.

The characters that are within the game lack a lot of charm for me, and their designs, while very Heart Machine, feel like they could've been built on a little more (this is mostly a personal gripe though). I can't get a sense of story for the game, and the fact NPCs are sort of /just/ merchants meant to be visited for only upgrades, despite Heart Machine's attempts by providing little overviews of backstories for both NPCs and Player Characters.

Hyper Light Breaker feels like an attempt at Risk of Rain 2's gameplay but with Hyper Light Drifter layered over it, and in my personal opinion, it was not executed well. It's challenging without a reward (dying over again is the same as beating the bosses, it seems -- you restart the loop), and the mechanic of having four chances at a specific seed seems like an attempt to remedy it, but when you lose durability on equipment you find as you die, it feels like a pointless mechanic. In every other rogue-lite in this niche, the result of your death is either starting from scratch or unlocking permanent upgrades. While yes, there are upgrades to unlock, there are four different currencies used throughout gameplay to do this, and the one you get the most readily is hardly used without one of the other three getting involved.

Making it so that, in a multiplayer game, you only have one character unlocked feels like an oversight -- I would expect there to be at least a secondary character unlocked so that players can properly pick and choose a loadout they'd like to play (which, picking those loadouts and characters require additional currency). I was playing single player and felt I couldn't go with a playstyle I might have otherwise enjoyed because it was blocked by currency.

Combat and movement feel both rigid and flowy. In combat, you are dedicated to your attacks, without the hope of breaking out of your animation, and your parry, while feeling quite powerful when you nail it, is hard to manage when in the thick of combat with multiple enemies. Your melee weapon having a powerful attack is great help in these scenarios, but they rely on your aim some of the time. I've found that flying enemies are much more challenging then they need to be -- you cannot hit them with melee unless they are upon you or you jump to meet them, and ranged attacks are out of the question as they're more often than not joined by other enemies or are too flighty to hit (with melee or ranged). Perhaps this is more of a skill issue, but it doesn't leave a good impression.

I can see the potential of Hyper Light Breaker, but as it is now, I don't know if I can recommend the game as it is now. It's somewhat laggy at times, moving across the large bodies of water or climbing the hills and mountains the maps are littered with feels impossible a good half the time, and the game lacks a proper tutorial, instead showing you the default control mapping and then letting you go in the world.

Far too cruel to new players.

I was skeptical due to the mixed reception, I am a fan of HLD and I am not really a multiplayer gamer, but the combat in this game is fire, I enjoyed it a lot and somewhat reminded me of HLD a lot. I haven't put a lot of hours yet but I am hooked to the gameplay loop
