If you're on Linux or Windows you can press and hold CTRL then click and hold on the signal and move your mouse in the direction of the track. You will see the same white line as when you would lay a track. Release the mouse-click and signals will be placed over the entire track until the next junction or signal.
This way you can also easily check a track for missing peaces :-)
