tutorials -> a couple of operations -> a few skirmish: death row, easy Ai
watch youtube deck builds - copy one -> use deck on a few more skirmishes vs medium Ai.
then either do more operations or go into 10v10 online to get a feel playing vs other players
i would HIGHLY recommend not ignoring multiplayer - some of the best of WARNO can be had there.
I would have missed out on some of my favorite games if I listened to what other people were saying about it.
If you want to buy and play a game, do it because it's what you want and not what other people are saying about it.
Won my first 10v10 I played about the same time I reached level 5 (getting the much rarer achievement first), and I played at least a decent part in holding two lines with tank support, aa and command infantry stalling. I'm not trying to tell folks the game is stupidly easy, or that they should expect the multiplayer to be a cakewalk, just that it is more inviting than some people make it out to be. The game does get super hardcore. It's just nowhere near as inaccessible as some folks make it out to be. I played another 10v10 loss when half the team resigned before the five minute mark, I wasn't one of the folks who resigned.
And what they are weak against, what should be your next unlock to try to mitigate this weakness as much as possible, you should be thinking of this before you actually go to call in the units, keeping track of the timer so you know when to do so. EG if you have a big tank push be sure to bring anti air along, if the AI starts using artillery move out of the zones of fire and put some of your own artillery far back on counter battery stance and you don't even need to micro them.
Even just learning basic hotkeys like the hunt and unload ones can help a ton, as it really hurts to lose an infantry squad just sitting in a transport or ifv that you forgot to unload.
Also are you playing 1v1s vs the AI or in team games?
I find the AI feels actually way tougher in a 4 AI vs player+3 AI setting than it does in a 1v1 setting but I am much more used to playing duels in RTS than any other sort of mode,
Also Edit: I should add that some knowledge of what is in your deck and their relative icons so you know what you are selecting can be incredibly helpful. Being able to identify a command version of a vehicle at first glance, which types of infantry are more suited to CQB, which bring the strongest anti tank weapons, which tank is your stronger and more costly option vs whether you are better off spending less on multiple lighter ones. All of this really helps speed your gameplay up in practice.
