[Feature Request] Controllers with an Aux & Mic port should work as they do on console
Tested with PS5 & PS4 controllers.

Currently the Aux pot on the PS5 controller doesn’t work either for audio or for a mic.

For example, if I plug in earphones that have a microphone included, both the audio and the mic won’t work.

This feature I would be especially useful because using a Bluetooth earphone & mic tends not to work properly, if at all.

I wish earphones with mic plugged in a PS5 controller would work as they do on console.

Thanks

It would be awesome, and to some extent the basic plumbing for this on at least the DS5 is already there, albeit, when used wired. Over BT I do believe the issue is bandwidth and probably even BT version (IIRC, for properly working, the DS5 requires at least BT 5.0 and for full features I believe it requires 5.2, I am not sure about the last bit), last time I checked the vast majority of PCs equipped with BT, were still using 3.x and 4.x BT adapters, so it may be as well why not much work has been done for wireless operation, and I think DS3 to 5 use some kind of proprietary RF on original hardware and not the BT band (hence they can allocate more bandwidth for audio as well, on controllers that support it like DS4 and 5).

Naw. Linux bluetooth audio is just on the crappier side. I also believe they say bluetooth is a pretty bad protocol for audio too.

This guy tried, but Linux audio pretty much receives table scraps. I believe Valve cares, but there are so many problems with Linux audio. The situation is in a better state now. Bluetooth audio will continue to stink for awhile.

That thread is from three years ago. Apparently many issues have been tackled recently, especially regarding sound quality and codec support. Plus since PW has replaced PA and much of the BT audio stuff was reimplemented, there has been much cleanup.

Still, things are not as good as dedicated RF link or wired.
