Well my CPU is AMD FX-8350 Eight Core and it can't run it then. The game becomes unplayable in the area where you get chased by a bunch of guys in that building after the helicopter shows up. Turning off PhysX sorts it out. I guess that's the answer then. I was just wondering if it was worth bothering to seek out the latest PhysX drivers. Cheers for the replies.
In your game directory (<STEAM LIBRARY>\steamapps\common\mirrors edge) open the file 17410_install.vdf and comment out (prepend with //) or delete the lines 130-136 holding the "PhysX Version" information:
//"PhysX Version"
//{
// "HasRunKey" "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\AGEIA Technologies"
// "process 1" "%INSTALLDIR%\\PhysX\\PhysX_SystemSoftware.exe"
// "NoCleanUp" "1"
// "MinimumHasRunValue" "81017"
//}
You're misisng out on better smoke effects, semi realistic plastic and cloth waving in the wind. Agree terribly annoying that the physx runtime is forced on people that cant even use it.
