So, no PhysX for AMD users?
So the only way for non-Nvidia users to run this game is to turn PhysX completely off? It's not even worth installing the latest PhysX drivers?

You can run it, but the physx stuff will be handled by the cpu, I think

Well my CPU is AMD FX-8350 Eight Core and it can't run it then. The game becomes unplayable in the area where you get chased by a bunch of guys in that building after the helicopter shows up. Turning off PhysX sorts it out. I guess that's the answer then. I was just wondering if it was worth bothering to seek out the latest PhysX drivers. Cheers for the replies.

Nope, PhysX in this game is older version then even in latest games so its pointless to even look into latest version of PhysX's drivers.

For what it's worth, even with my 6 core amd the cpu physx is crappy compared to Nvidia gpu in games like Borderlands 2 (as far as I can see).

By the way I just figured how to prevent the game from installing or asking to install PhysX on startup in case you want to keep it uninstalled from your computer like me (no nvidia, no need for PhysX runtime).

In your game directory (<STEAM LIBRARY>\steamapps\common\mirrors edge) open the file 17410_install.vdf and comment out (prepend with //) or delete the lines 130-136 holding the "PhysX Version" information:

//"PhysX Version"
//{
// "HasRunKey" "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\AGEIA Technologies"
// "process 1" "%INSTALLDIR%\\PhysX\\PhysX_SystemSoftware.exe"
// "NoCleanUp" "1"
// "MinimumHasRunValue" "81017"
//}

You arent missing out on much by not having physx enabled at the time of release physx in games was extremely rare and new. I dont even own that many games that use it I can only think of Metro last light and mirror's edge.

You're misisng out on better smoke effects, semi realistic plastic and cloth waving in the wind. Agree terribly annoying that the physx runtime is forced on people that cant even use it.

can't we just use like decent (by decent i mean not bad not good) cloth , smoke and glass simulations instead of the semi realistic simulations? would love to see a mod like that.
